Just so you know you do NOT have to go to a swanky hotel lobby* to have an engagement session that’s more beautiful than your dreams. >>>> 💐💐💐
Molly wanted to highlight her Zinnia patch in their engagement session, and told me to walk on in the back gate like an old friend when I arrived. That kind of cozy warmth led into the most intimate little soft sunset secret garden of a backyard session you ever did see. In 30 minutes I got to be dazzled by the immense care Molly has placed in the garden, watched the two of them throw axes at the targets Jeremy made and met 2/3 of their darling kitties.
Listen, I love the really out there high fashion super styled shoots as much as the next photographer, who doesn’t love a controlled environment where you pick the lights, aesthetic and literal models? It’s hard to take a bad shot when you plan every tiny detail. But when you arrive to a client’s home, and you giggle about their cats in a place that they feel most like themselves, as the string lights glow and shadows get long…that’s the kind of stuff I LIVE FOR when it comes to being invited into wedding days.
*Speaking of hotel portrait sessions, you honestly you probably can’t in Kansas City without paying several hundred dollars to rent the space anyways which is totally fair, respect our local businesses and play by the rules thank youuuu!!
