People often ask us: “What’s the secret to photographing Bengal tigers in the best light?”

For those of you who have been on the Bisti Badland workshops with us...you may have heard this beautiful formation fell a few days ago.

It has long been one of my favorite subjects to photograph. At first glance, it seemed to defy gravity. To me, it symbolized both resilience and fragility. Something could look so precarious and still stand strong. There was something hopeful in that balance, in the way it seemed to hold its own against the odds.

It’s hard to imagine returning and finding that familiar silhouette gone. I’m sad to see this one go, and grateful for the time I spent photographing it.

If you’ve never chased a storm, it’s hard to fully appreciate the thrill.

You spend the afternoon watching the radar, reading the clouds and trying to anticipate where the storm will go next. One moment you’re racing across the desert to get into position. The next, you’re standing beneath an enormous sky as thunder rolls across the canyons and lightning suddenly illuminates the entire landscape.

No two monsoon storms are ever the same—and that is precisely what makes chasing them so addictive. You can plan, study and prepare, but ultimately Mother Nature decides what show she will deliver. When everything comes together, there is nothing else quite like it

We tend to associate our Alaska trips with bears and wildlife, but the landscapes are every bit as spectacular!

Fall colors are absolutely exploding across the Alaska tundra right now.

I’m so glad to see our group up there taking full advantage of it—the reds, golds, and oranges stretching across the landscape beneath those immense Alaska mountains.

Seeing their images come in has me digging through my own archives and reminiscing about the years when I was out there with them on these epic adventures. There’s something about Alaska in the fall that stays with you: the vastness, the changing weather, the incredible light, and mile after mile of tundra glowing with color.
