With heavy localized rainfall predicted this afternoon and evening in Kalamazoo, motorists are urged to use extra caution when traveling.

Never drive through flooded roadways or around barricades. Water depth can be difficult to judge, and even a small amount of moving water can pose a serious hazard to vehicles and their occupants.

City Public Services and Public Safety crews will be monitoring conditions and responding to impacted areas as quickly as possible. Please slow down, stay alert, and avoid flooded areas whenever possible.

Radar update as of 3:55 pm EDT 6/17/26, and a message on timing.

We've seen the requests. Unfortunately, today is too messy to provide a timing map. Storms will fill in rather randomly at times behind this field of rain that is currently ongoing across the Lower Peninsula (not shown as we are viewing radar in Chicago). Areas in green will continue to see rainfall through midnight as showers train over the same area. Areas in yellow will likely see some stronger storms fire up later this evening after 6-7 pm EDT, but not guaranteed. A wind threat is most-likely in this zone. Flash flooding potential is also heightened along and south of I-96.

Most of our significant severe weather is now expected to be south of the red line. While severe weather is still possible in Michigan, the chances for stronger hail and tornadoes are very low. Only damaging winds are the primary concern at this time.

Before and after.

34 gallons of paint.

An absurd amount of patience.

The ceiling fought every step of the way, and there were plenty of moments when accepting it as it was seemed like a perfectly reasonable life choice.

Instead, two friends looked at a room full of problems and said, β€œWe’ll get it done.”

Mark and Lark turned a room I hoped would work into a room I can’t wait to work in.

I mostly stayed out of the way.

Thank you, gentlemen. I’m grateful beyond words.
