This was a very unexpected surprise! I'm so used to Red-bellied and Downy Woodpeckers. So seeing this bright colored Red-headed Woodpecker was very exciting! There are 2 of them and this is the second day of them coming to the feeder. So perhaps they will become regulars!

Orchard Oriole, this bird was a tad bit far. But its a new one for my list. Used to seeing the Baltimore, so this was exciting to see a different type of Oriole.

And this Yellow Warbler came closer. I am still on a mission to get better pics of these 2. But I am happy for the pictures I got for now.

Lots of Northern Parulas on the trail. They are always cooperative when it comes to pictures. Looking forward to my walks nxt week. And the weather all week is a mix of highs of 60's and 70's. So that is perfect!

Red-eyed Vireo

Last walk this one was near the same area as the Parula. The shade and lightning was a challenge this time. But luckily this Vireo came closer and was able to snap quite a few photos. I have heard so many birds out here its crazy at times. I'm hopeful each time I will see something different!

So today I got another lifer bird!

Meet the Wood Thrush!

It was a challenge tracking this bird let alone getting a picture. It was not only very camouflaged, but very shy. There was 2 of them and I followed and followed. Thank goodness for a zoom lens. Because there was no way I was getting a close picture. I got 1, so that is good enough!

This is a Wood Thrush, one of the many Thrushes that look the same....brown with white and speckles lol

White-breasted Nuthatch

These remind me of black and white warblers, in the sense they are all over the place, up and down and even sideways on trees. I probably held my camera for a solid 10mins upwards trying to snap as many pictures before this bird disappeared behind the tree. The sound they make has me laugh sometimes. If you get a chance look them up. Its quite the noise!

Great walk today, I look forward to many more!

My cute little Northern Short-tailed Shrew's are coming back out now that the cold has passed. I still can't get over their tiny tiny eyes! And today I learned they are venomous. Apparently they have neurotoxins in their saliva which they can paralyze their prey with....crazy!
