It’s been 1 year, 4 hours, 44 minutes, and 2 seconds since your last breath on earth.

My dearest Biscuit,

This is my final memory of you. Grammys crocheted this blanket for you, she still talks about you being her favorite & how much she misses you.

Bella’s ashes placed by your side; I wanted you girls to be together as you have been for most of your living life.

Flowers around you to symbolize the immense beauty you’ve brought into my life. Into Asher’s life.

I’m always telling people that there is beauty in pain and this is no exception.

We lose hard because we loved even harder.

The tears still come. The sadness of you not being here; the door greetings & the couch snuggles are no longer. The way you always gave me the sweetest nose kisses. The softness of your fur & the excitement in simply, being alive.

I’ve learned so much from you.

God knew we needed each other & for that I am beyond thankful.

short story.

Last year I saw this guy at Publix, he was interesting to me, had cool style & decided to approach him to see if he wanted to shoot sometime (gave his my business card).

Over the next couple of weeks, we kept running into each other. Turns out, we were neighbors (homies as they say).

Being in the creative industry I’ve been able to connect & relate with on various aspects. It’s not the easiest career, but when there’s passion for it, you continue to pursue it.

A couple weeks ago, I heard a lot of sirens, headed outside to see 6+ fire trucks on our street. I walked around the corner to see what was going on & it was my friend, Sheldon’s apartment on fire. They busted windows to get in, worked on extinguishing the fire asap. (big props to JFRD 👏🏼)

The worst area was his kitchen but parts of his ceiling were ripped open to make sure the flames didn’t move into the attic. All his stuff was engulfed in soot. A lot of stuff had to be trashed; I went in the next day and it was really bad.

Long story short, I’m glad no one was hurt, the material things can be replaced. I can relate to that as I lost the majority of my home during Hurricane Irma.

Photographs help tell a story, so I was glad I could help him with my gift.

He is looking to get into a new place, replace some of the important goods he lost & get back on his feet.

At the end of the day, we have to have each other’s backs & give back to a world that leaves us with less. It’s the people & moments that bring joy into our lives; for that I’m thankful.

I blinked and you graduated high school.

If there was a way that I could press rewind and watch you grow up all over again, I would.

You are my heart.
You are my soul.
You are my spirit.

And I couldn’t be more proud of you, that title I keep close to my heart, “mom”.

Enjoy your youth, your freedom. Explore & do all the things. Always be kind to people. The material stuff doesn’t matter, but the people you surround yourself with does. Choose your tribe wisely & most of all, have fun.
