80 years of life, and a love that has lasted Chris’s entire lifetime. 🤍

Meet Judy, my beautiful mother-in-law, and Chris, my husband, assistant, bag carrier, and the one who is usually helping me behind the camera.

For Judy’s 80th birthday, she had one request: updated photos with her son. So this weekend, we headed to the studio and documented the two of them together.

And I’m so glad we did.

Fun fact: Chris is an only child, which somehow makes these feel even sweeter. Just a mom and her boy, 40-something years of memories, laughter, life, and a relationship that has grown right alongside them.

As a photographer, I talk a lot about documenting the big milestones. Weddings. Babies. Birthdays. Growing families. But I think sometimes we forget that our relationships with our parents are worth documenting as adults, too.

One day, these won’t just be photographs. They’ll be pieces of a life together. And that is exactly why I love what I get to do. 🤍

Happy 80th birthday, Judy! I love you dearly, and I’m so grateful we got to preserve this chapter for you both.

Some sessions are beautiful.

Some sessions are unforgettable.

Rachel & Nolan (and their sweet pup, R***r ) gave me both.

From dancing beneath the willow branches during golden hour to quiet moments that felt like the rest of the world disappeared... every part of this evening was filled with joy.

When Rachel messaged me and said, "What if we jump in the river?"

Without hesitation my answer was, "Absolutely."

Those are the moments I live for as a photographer. The ones that aren't expected. The ones that become the stories you'll tell years from now. The soaking wet clothes, the uncontrollable laughter, the splashing, and the complete freedom to simply enjoy each other.

Your photos should feel like you.
Not perfectly posed.
Not overly polished.

Just the beautiful, wildly in-love version of your story.

Sometimes a giveaway turns into a little bit of magic. 🤍

McKenna + Sergio were the winners of my couples mini session giveaway, and I couldn’t have imagined a sweeter evening with these two.

We met beneath the Willow Tree as the sun started to dip,wandered through the branches, laughed a whole lot, and documented the kind of love that just feels comfortable. The way they look at each other says everything. 🥹

This is why I love couples sessions so much. You don’t need an engagement, anniversary, or big milestone to deserve beautiful photographs together. Sometimes being in love, right here and right now, is reason enough.

One of my favorite things about extended family sessions is documenting every chapter of the family story, not just the big group photo.

Chris and I took a little road trip up to Onekama to meet this wonderful family at their summer vacation home, and it could not have been a more beautiful evening. We explored the dunes during golden hour before making our way down to the beach for sunset, soaking in every bit of that gorgeous Lake Michigan light.

When you book an extended family session, you’re getting so much more than one photo with everyone smiling at the camera. I always make time for the combinations that become treasured keepsakes for years to come:

✨ Grandparents with grandchildren
✨ Individual families
✨ Couples
✨ Siblings
✨ Individual portraits of the kids (because they grow up far too fast)

One piece of wedding day advice I’ll give every bride?

✨ Make time for solo bridal portraits. ✨

I know your wedding day flies by. There are family photos to take, guests to hug, and a timeline to keep. But somewhere in the middle of it all, I always encourage my brides to take 10–15 minutes just for themselves.

Why?

Because this is likely the only day you’ll ever wear the dress.

The one you searched for.
The one you said “yes” to.
The one you’ve dreamed about.

These portraits become more than beautiful photos—they become a reminder of how you felt in this once-in-a-lifetime moment. The excitement. The confidence. The quiet anticipation before you say, “I do.”

Years from now, I want you to look back and remember you—not just the celebration, but the woman who was about to begin her next chapter.
