But wait…. There’s more.

You saw him in his football uniform, standing on the field in the middle of a season that has been such a big part of who he is.

Then he stepped into the studio.

There’s something about seeing your boy dressed up and captured like this that catches a parent off guard. It’s like when your son gets a fresh haircut and suddenly, somehow, he looks two years older.

You look at them and think, wait when did that happen?

That’s what I love about this portrait. His mom‘s eyes filled with tears of happiness and disbelief.

She got a glimpse of the man he’s becoming!

I flew a drone over his football field before I ever photographed him.

Not because every senior session needs drone footage and not only because it looks cool.

I wanted to see the entire place. I wanted to understand the field, watch how the light moved through it and start thinking about where his story could come to life.

I don’t want to simply show up with a camera and start taking pictures.

Before a senior ever steps in front of me, I’m already thinking about what matters to them, what we’ve talked about and how I can make the session feel like it actually belongs to them.

For him, football isn’t just something he does. This field holds years of practices, friendships, pressure, growth and memories that will eventually feel very different when he’s no longer standing in the middle of them.

So yes I scout. I take notes. I fly the drone. I study the light. I look for the pieces other people might pass by.

The finished photographs are what everyone sees.

But all of the thought that happens before them is what helps those photographs feel personal.

One day, it’s just another Friday night.

And then somehow, it’s the last one.

That’s the strange thing about senior year. While you’re living it, everything still feels normal.

Practice. Putting on the same jersey. Walking onto the same field with teammates you’ve known forever.

It still feels like there will always be another game.

The last time doesn’t always feel important while it’s happening. Usually, you understand what it meant later.

That’s why I love creating sessions like this. I’m not just trying to get a few pictures of him holding a football. I want to photograph what this season feels like…. and who he is in the middle of it.

Because someday he’ll drive past this field and remember this version of himself.

The lights. The nerves. The friendships. The (tiger) pride of being part of something that helped shape him.

Senior year goes so unbelievably fast.

And if this is his final season, I want to make sure it doesn’t pass without giving him something that will take him right back to it.

Authentically and organically captured. Any and all of my portraits you see use absolutely zero AI! I will always photograph people in true form and capture their real beauty!

Simplicity with a portrait lens will forever be my go to. I love capturing the details of a face close up. I shot this using my 85 mm and sculpted her face with my favorite beauty modifiers.

I use my profoto l600c here and I absolutely love my cosmetic filters that I’m able to apply over a skin tone.

This beautiful girl is just 14 years old and you would never even know it because she was photographed so sophisticated.
