The ’ber months have arrived, and somehow it is officially fall… which means family photo season is here. 🤍

Golden evenings, little hands reaching for yours, kids running through fields, and finally getting everyone you love into the same frame.

And somehow, my fall calendar is already getting very full.

Fall mini sessions have limited spots remaining, and availability for individual family sessions is dwindling too. So if updating your family photos has been sitting on your fall to-do list, now is the time to get your date on the calendar.

We’ll get the photograph where everyone is looking at the camera, of course. But we’ll also make room for the movement, the laughter, the snuggles and all those little in-between moments that actually feel like your family.

A ballet legacy in the making. 🩰

There are some businesses you photograph, and then there are the ones you get to watch grow.

My daughter was one of the very first students at Tutu School Cypress, so getting to photograph the grand opening of their second location felt especially sweet.

Over the years, I’ve watched Jennifer create an atmosphere where little dancers are encouraged to learn, love and simply have fun with ballet. There is so much heart behind what she has built, and watching her continue to chase her dreams and grow that vision into a second studio has been incredibly inspiring.

And maybe some of my favorite moments from the entire day weren’t even the big ones.

It was watching her husband look at her while she gave her speech, through tears, as usual… because if you know, you know. 🥹 It was seeing him quietly grab a mop and start cleaning in the middle of the celebration. It was seeing their family, friends and community show up around them.

Because behind a woman building something beautiful is so often a whole lot of love, work and people who believe in the dream right alongside her.

Congratulations, Jennifer, on Tutu School Katy and this beautiful next chapter. What a gift to get to document a little piece of the legacy you’re building. 🤍

Their childhood is your motherhood. Your life, too.

Don’t get so busy documenting every milestone, every birthday, every first, every little moment for your children that you forget to preserve this season for yourself.

Because while they’re living their childhood…

you’re living your motherhood.

The years they reached for your hand.
The porch swing conversations.
The giggles that echoed through your backyard.
The sticky fingers stealing snacks from your plate.
The ordinary moments that someday won’t feel ordinary at all.

One day, your children will look back at these photographs.

Yes, they’ll remember what childhood looked like.

But they’ll also remember you.

The way you smiled at them.
The way you laughed.
The way you held them close.
The way home felt.

Be in the photographs.

Not because you need them…

Because one day, they will.

The changes happen so gradually that it’s easy to miss them while you’re in the middle of everyday life.

That is the part worth remembering.

The tiny hands.
The cuddles.
The way they still look for you first.

Because these years feel long some days, but they don’t stay little for very long.

A little senior style tip from your photographer and unofficial dress-shopping enabler…

If you’re dreaming of soft florals, movement, and that effortless golden-hour look for your fall senior photos, now is the time to shop.

One of the biggest surprises for seniors is realizing that by the time fall session season arrives, most stores have already transitioned to darker colors, heavier fabrics, and winter styles.

The dresses filling boutiques right now are often perfect for September, October, and even November sessions here in Houston. Think flowy skirts, feminine details, soft colors, and all the movement that photographs beautifully.

I spotted several favorites today at local Tomball boutique and immediately thought of my senior girls.

So if you’re walking through a store and find a dress you absolutely love, don’t wait for fall to buy it. Future-you will be glad you did.
