A small look into a wedding day with a mix of posed & candid moments. A wedding day is made up of so many moments, and when you think of your day & see inspiration online you probably wonder what moments are real interactions vs posed moments.
I move through weddings days documenting those natural moments and stepping in to pose/prompt when needed. Swipe to see these moments and let me know what your favorite is!
A series of posed couples portraits throughout downtown Grand Rapids.
Instructing when to walk or twirl or kiss, I captured these with the intention to create the portraits that will live on walls and in albums.
My favorite moment of this set is probably the bottom middle. A random gentleman stopped while the bridesmaids were taking their portraits in front of the Amway Grand. He stopped to congratulate the groom and show him his ring while telling him how long he's been married to his wife. It was a spontaneous, but sweet moment in the middle of working with such a large group 🤍
The looks, the kisses, the first look were all prompted for these, taken around the same time as the previous posed set.
Reactions in first looks are totally natural, but we do stage these moments pretty heavily in the beginning in terms of "stand here, walk here, pause, ok turn around". And then from there it's whatever happens happens! We moreso stage it so you don't see each other before you're ready!
Post-ceremony moments. A spontaneous picture of her holding her dress as she walks (I'm absolutely giddy that I caught it). Reading private vows during a moment alone to each other during cocktail hour. Interactions with guests after dinner.
All candid moments throughout the reception part of the evening.
