I’m Desiray, the face behind the camera. I just wanted to share why and how I got started.
I have loved photography since I was 11. My grandma gave me this little blue film camera and I took pictures of EVERYTHING! Seriously, I think I had pictures of grass from an ants view, one even with a shoe in it to make it look like a giant. I kept them in my memory box for what seems like a life time. I took up photography and print making in high school. Then I joined the medical field in the radiology department and it was cool because we got to develop the images. Then technology changed and everything became digital, but I picked it up right away. Then I decided to grow my own little family and wanted to document everything. I wanted all the monthly pictures and somehow kept telling myself, I can do that. I can make these images. Well they were not as pretty as I imagined they would be and I just kept trying and trying. Then I had a few people start asking me if I would do a family session for them, which turned into a friend asking me to shoot her whole wedding. I think it took her a month to convince me to actually do it. I did it for free to gain experience but everyone kept “tipping” me and I didn’t want anyone to think I was profiting illegally or get into any kind of trouble. So I started a business, doing something I love. I have a career in the medical field and take photos on the side. I love connecting with people and seeing their joy. Making people laugh and have those genuine true to self expressions. We look our best when it’s genuine and it is truly amazing to get to create this beautiful image and bring happiness to people doing it. www.justavibephotography.com
