WHY ARE THESE PHOTOS IMPORTANT TO ME?
These two photos hold so much of my heart.
The first is of my firstborn, Henry. The image that quietly changed the direction of my life. When my dad saw this photo, he said, “You have a talent… you should do something with it.” At the time, I don’t think he realized how deeply those words would take root in me and neither did I.
The second photo is of an incredible woman and her beautiful baby girl and a friendship that I truly believe God placed in my path.
After Henry was born, I found myself with an oversupply of breast milk. A friend mentioned, donation. I remember sitting there imagining who it might go to, hoping it would reach someone who truly needed it. I didn’t know who that mother would be yet but not long after, I came across Sunshine in a local moms Facebook group. When I heard her story I just knew she was the one I had been picturing in my heart.
What I didn’t know then was how much she would be a blessing to me in return.
We began meeting daily when Henry was about 4 months old. I would bring fresh milk, and she would hand back empty bottles to refill. Somewhere between those exchanges, we shared pieces of our lives. Then one day I learned she was a photographer.
When I nervously mentioned that my dad thought I had an eye for photography, she didn’t hesitate. She took me under her wing and taught me how to see light. She introduced me to Lightroom and Photoshop, programs that once felt overwhelming but would soon become part of my everyday life.
Looking back now, It amazes me how the smallest moments can quietly change the direction of our lives. I see God’s fingerprints all over the beginning of this journey. What started as an act of giving became one of the greatest blessings of my life.
When I photograph a pregnant momma, your newborn baby or your family, I am not just taking pictures. I am preserving a season that deserves to be remembered.
What began as a simple act of caring for another mother became the beginning of a career I love.
