Earlier this month Megan and Mike drove over and met me in a cold, windy May morning to celebrate their engagement and the Lake. The chilly wind only helped us all feel more alive 👯‍♀️

What a kick off to our 2026 wedding season. The absolute kindest and most humble couple…Kelsey+Matt. Married in a Grand Rapids on a beautifully sunny, albeit chilly, spring Saturday.

For the friend who didn’t just design a book—they designed a whole moment. Equal parts brilliance, beauty, and her grounding approach to her work. Proud to celebrate this stunning release of her book today and read about the passion behind all of her projects and designs (I want to immediately move into every home she designs and several of the rooms in our own house have her rugs and furniture in them. Her creativity has no bounds!)

I also always appreciate how much she loves on, and includes the people around her. It was a treat to photograph her author photo and collaborate on the images of the release of her book.

My New Year’s resolutions often present in spring not winter. And one of mine is to share more work here now that my season is in full swing. So I present you with the Koster family…an extended family session embracing the fullness of family being together.

As this winter is winding down (the spring equinox is next week which is so hard to believe), I thought I would share some of the highlights of what I have been up to on here. I think most of you know I take a slower approach with my photography in the winter months to creatively recharge, spend time with my family and friends and delve into other creative endeavors such as painting and pottery. I even have done a few painting commissions…one for that I’ll share soon.

These months fill me up, they help me slow down and they get me excited for the year ahead.

What I have also been up to, which most of you know, is opening up an art space inside of . The response has been overwhelming and I’m so grateful.

The highlights here show time spent with family and friends, a few girl’s weekends up north and in Detroit, and all of the in between.

What I’m looking forward to in the year ahead...our wedding season starts in full swing in May. Both myself and my Associate Photographer are geared up and ready and April marks when my shoots start in force. I have some house projects I’m working on...repainting rooms (my list is long and we will see how many I get to!), our outside space and buttoning up a kitchen renovation we have been doing this winter (I’m dead over our terra cotta kitchen floor tiles). I also want to continue to paint art and prioritize it even as I get busier into the summer and fall months.

I also started a Substack! I haven’t been super consistant there yet, but will be sharing my art pieces, upcoming shoots and even sharing some family, senior and engagement photo shoot ideas for those of you having photo sessions this coming year. If you have any content you would like to know more about, please share. I’ve been enjoying it as a way of sharing things more in depth. I’ll try to remember to link it in my Linktree in my bio soon.

My normal beat for January is pretty slow...I take a look back on the past year, get my calendar set for the year ahead. I make plans with friends. I paint. I rest and I gear up for the coming seasons.

This January I added adding an art gallery space into the mix which means my January was a lot less slow this year, which isn’t a complaint, but I realized that I also have not been adding as much to this space here. And as I was gathering some images to update my (neglected) website, I saw so many beautiful shoots that I haven’t even had a chance to share yet. This one with Emily and Dave and their sweet new girl was so special. I met them years ago when they were just dating...have photographed their dog, their engagement and we documented their wedding. And now...now as parents. The best full circle.
