Like at all. 😂

Shy is fine. Wild is fine. Attached to your leg the entire time is fine. Mad at their brother for a reason nobody fully understands is fine. Completely opposed to the outfit you spent forty five minutes picking out is honestly my favorite. Let me tell you about the session a little girl wore her Elsa dress for the entire time!

I do not want the version of your family that shows up when someone says okay everybody look here and smile.

I want the real one. The one that exists on a regular evening in your actual house when nobody is performing for anyone.

That is the whole point of the way I work. I am not directing your family. I am observing them. And the things that happen when kids are just being kids in a space where they feel completely safe are always, always the things worth keeping.

So if the reason you have been putting off booking is because you are not sure your family can pull it off, I want you to hear me on this.

Here is what I want you to know. You do not have to have it all figured out before you reach out. You do not have to know exactly what you want the session to look like or whether morning or evening works better or whether your house is the right kind of house for this.

You just have to have a feeling.

They're not supposed to.

I don't need your husband to suddenly love being on camera.

I don't need your toddler to cooperate.

I don't need your kids to stop fighting.

And I definitely don't need everybody to be in a good mood for three hours. 😂

Okay. I have spent the last week talking about why the ordinary parts of family life matter so much.

Something I want every family to know before they decide.

I schedule these sessions around your real life. Not mine.

Non school days or your evening routine. Which means we can do a weekend morning session and I catch the breakfast routine. The pajamas. The slow start to the day. The way everyone moves through the kitchen before the world fully wakes up.

Or we can do any evening after dinner. The wind down. The way the fall light comes through the windows low and golden at that hour. The bedtime routine that feels so ordinary right now but will not always be.

I keep saying it because I need you to actually feel what that means.

Not two spots this month. Not two spots this season. Two Keepsake Family Film spots left for all of 2026. When these fill I do not open more. The next time family film availability opens is 2027.

Your kids right now, in this house, in this season, are not going to be these kids in 2027. They are going to be different. A little older. A little further from the version of themselves that exists on a regular Tuesday in your kitchen right now.

I am not trying to pressure you. I am trying to make sure you actually have the information.

Because I have talked to enough families on the other side of this, the ones whose kids are older now, whose houses are quieter now, who would give almost anything to go back to one ordinary evening, and they all say the same thing.

They wish they had not waited.

I know how it goes. You read something and it hits. And then life keeps moving and the kids need something and you put your phone down and you think maybe later and later becomes tomorrow and tomorrow becomes next week and suddenly it is November and the moment has passed.

If somebody gave me the choice between a hundred more photos of my son when he was little or five minutes of video of one completely normal night I am taking the video.

Immediately. No hesitation.

And that is not because I do not love photographs. Obviously I do. 😂

But I know what he looked like. I have the photos. I can see his face.

It is the other stuff that has gotten fuzzy around the edges.

His voice. The way he moved through a room. His mannerisms. The specific way we were together on a random Tuesday when nothing special was happening and everything was.

That is the stuff I cannot get back. And honestly that is the stuff that gets me the most when I think about it.

It is why family films hit me so differently than anything else I do.

A photograph stops time for a second. It shows you what something looked like.

A film gives you back something a photograph simply cannot.
Sound.

The laugh. The voice that only existed at that age in that season. The running feet. The way they called for you from another room.

That is what I am trying to give families before it gets fuzzy for them too. 🤎

If you asked me whether you should book photos or a family film I would not start by telling you what each one includes.

I would ask you one question first.

What are you scared you are going to forget?

If the thing that came to mind was something you can see. How little they look tucked against you right now. The curls. The freckles. Their hand inside yours. The way your whole family looks together in this exact season before everyone gets a little older and a little different.

I would probably tell you to do the Classic Photography Session.

But if the thing that came to mind was a sound.

Their laugh. The toddler voice that is only going to exist for about eleven more months before it changes into something older. The way they say mom from another room. The running feet coming down the hallway at full speed. The way your husband makes them lose it laughing.

I would tell you to seriously think about a Keepsake Film.

Because photos are beautiful. I will never stop taking them. But they are silent.
Sometimes that is enough.

And sometimes the thing you are trying so hard to hold onto is not something a photograph can carry. 🤎
