A Little Heart-to-Heart From Me 🤍
To those who may have wondered if I’m still doing photography—the answer is absolutely yes.
First, I want to sincerely apologize for my distance and lack of social media presence lately. If you’ve followed my journey for any length of time, you know that I pour my heart into photography. But the truth is, I’m human too. Life happens. Some days are heavy, and some days I simply don’t have the energy to show up online.
One thing many people don’t see is the reality behind owning a photography business. It’s more than showing up with a camera. It’s investing countless hours and thousands of dollars into equipment, education, props, studio rentals, software, insurance, travel, and editing. It’s sacrificing evenings, weekends, and time with family to serve clients and deliver galleries with care.
And if I’m being transparent, social media can be exhausting. Constantly promoting yourself, creating content, marketing, answering inquiries, and trying to stay visible can take a toll on your mental health. There have been moments where I’ve questioned whether all the effort was worth it—especially after spending hours answering inquiries that never book, holding dates that don’t follow through, or lowering prices to make sessions accessible only to be asked for something even cheaper.
I understand that times are hard. I truly do. But I’ve also realized that protecting my peace is important too.
Over the last few months, I’ve stepped back and poured some of that energy into gardening. Watching things grow, slowing down, and reconnecting with life outside of business has brought me a sense of peace that I didn’t realize I needed.
So moving forward, I am making a few changes.
For now, through the summer and until fall, I will not be offering mini sessions or promotional sessions.
If you love my work, connect with my style, and are serious about booking a session, I would love to work with you. Simply send me a message with the date you have in mind and be prepared to secure your session with a retainer to reserve your spot.
To every client who has supported me, referred me, trusted me with your memories, and shown patience during this season of life—thank you. Your support means more than you’ll ever know.
I’m still here. Still creating. Still capturing the beauty of life as it unfolds.
With gratitude,
Alliyah
