Last Friday I went to Cupcake Wars at Gig Harbor High School. Gig Harbor HS has a culinary program as part of the Career & Technical Education (CTE) program. The instructor for the program, Bug Silva, set up a cupcake competition for his students who had worked hard perfecting cupcake recipes. The students were engaged in the work and created some fantastic cupcakes. Among the different kinds were Waffle w/ Bacon, Churro Cupcakes, and Strawberry Lemonade. Students had 25 minutes to decorate and present the cupcake, where they were judged by some of the faculty and a couple of students. It was an awesome, fun event! Based on the enthusiasm I saw, some of these students will pursue careers in the culinary arts.
Congratulations to all the students, instructors, and CTE program administrators for putting on a great event.
