I get to do this for a living, which is kind of bananas when I think about it.

I get to sit with you in the uncertainties and the unknowns, but also in the biggest dreams you could ever dream.

I get the absolute honor of seeing you in some of your most vulnerable moments - moments of letting your guard down just enough to feel how absolutely beautiful/powerful/capable you are.

When I step back and think about my own wildest dreams in life, this is it. I am currently living it while I’m in the room with you.

Consider this your official (and literal) sign from the universe.

If you’re an entrepreneur, a many-hat-wearer, a person who gives a lot and checks in with yourself approximately never... it might be time to get honest about what you actually want and need. And just so we’re clear: those things are not a burden. They’re actually the doorway to becoming the most at-peace and abundant version of yourself.

I say all this because it’s been on my mind this week and something I needed to hear too. So this morning I slowed down enough to write a pep talk for all of us.

There are people who hype you up, and then there are people who restructure how you think about yourself. Amy is the second kind.

She’s a marketing strategist, public speaker, and the person in the room who makes everyone else braver just by being there. Seventeen years in business means I’ve had my own brand photos taken a lot. It also means I have personally committed several of the crimes I’m about to tell you about.

The new outfit that I have still never worn outside of photos. The top that looked incredible standing in front of my bathroom mirror and told a completely different story the moment I sat down. The “this is future me” energy in the dressing room that did not survive contact with an actual camera.

We move on. We learn. Sometimes we re-learn… several times.

A photographer once told me to “look sexy.”

I was fourteen. One long eyebrow. Full set of braces. Cystic acne. And absolutely zero idea what to do with that information. (Yes, it was a professional adult photographer. Yes, that’s deeply weird. We don’t have time to unpack that today.)

I just kind of... stared blankly at the camera. Maybe threw in some jazz hands to make it extra awkward.

I think about that moment every once in a while now that I’m on the other side of the lens. Because that direction wasn’t just bad, it was completely empty. “Look sexy” means nothing. It gives you nothing to hold onto. It makes you feel like you’re failing at something you were never taught.

So I made a decision when I started shooting people professionally: I’m never going to tell you to be something. I’m going to pull out what’s already there.

Your weird. Your warmth. Your “I’m “going to get s**t done and move mountains, all while I make dinner” energy. The thing that makes people feel lucky to know you.

Because here’s what I actually believe:
You being fully yourself is the most magnetic thing you own. You embodied? Wildly attractive. You free? Undeniable. You looking like the most *you* you’ve ever looked in your life?

That’s sexy.
