Exhibit A: this guy already dresses like he wandered out of 1890 (the hat helps). Add a baby who's clearly unimpressed by the whole process, and a mom holding the family together like she always does — and you've got a tintype.

Here's the thing about wet plate photography: it's slow, it's a little unpredictable, and it makes everyone look like they have a secret. No filters. No retakes. Just light, silver, and chemistry doing something your phone will never pull off.

These are two tintypes from my Gardnerville studio. Every plate is completely unique, and the finished photograph is something you can actually hold.

You don't need another digital photo of yourself.

You need a photograph you can actually hold.

A wet plate collodion tintype is made slowly, by hand, one plate at a time. You sit for the camera, the plate is prepared, exposed, developed, fixed, and finished right here in my studio in Gardnerville.

No digital file.
No filter.
No clicking “print.”

Just you, captured on a piece of metal using a photographic process that dates back to the 1850s.

And because every plate is handmade, every little variation in the image belongs to that particular moment.
