Fun fact: my mom owned a hot air balloon company when I was a kid.

I was in middle school, folding and delivering brochures, answering phones and occasionally helping on the chase crew for her solo, woman-owned business. I watched her build something from just a dream — and I think that’s a big part of why I run my own business today. She showed me it was possible.

I’ve dreamed for YEARS of doing a creative session with a hot air balloon. This year, with these three incredible Class of 2026 girls, that dream finally came true. 🎈
We didn’t take flight — we inflated the balloon on the ground and got to play inside the envelope (yep, that’s really what it’s called) for our last shoot together as seniors.

Huge thanks to Shelby for being up for coming with her hot air balloon and expertise to make this happen. Years in the making, and so glad we could finally do it.

To my Douglas Girls!! what an incredible year this has been. Watching you grow into yourselves, both behind and in front of the lens, has been such a joy. You’ve shown up authentically, made me laugh (a LOT), and reminded me why I love what I do. Today is yours—take it all in. Photograph as many moments as you can, embrace the people around you, and let yourself really feel how special this is. I’m so proud of each and every one of you. Congratulations, graduates. To my Carson girls who graduate tomorrow!!! this year with you has been such a gift. I’ve watched you become more confident and comfortable with yourselves, both in front of the camera and beyond. We’ve laughed, been ourselves, and I’ve had the privilege of really getting to know who you are. As you walk into what’s next, remember this: take the pictures, soak in the moments, celebrate the people around you. This year with you has been unforgettable, and I’m so incredibly proud of you. Just a quick sneak peek of today’s Hot Air Balloon shoot!

A GIGANIC shout out to Shelby! the amazing pilot and balloon owner, and her crew Charis and Brynna and my amazing friend and crew/coordinator of all things Lorelei! And huge thanks to Kennli who came to film her skillful behind the scenes and assist me! It takes a village to do these big shoots!

I’ll share some more info on the origin of this shoot when I share the final images.
