Your venue offers an all-inclusive package. Photography, video, DJ, flowers, one number. It looks simple, and sometimes it genuinely is the right call.

But before you sign, ask one question: who, by name, is covering my wedding?

When a studio agrees to a discounted package rate, it staffs those dates accordingly. The owner or lead photographer whose work drew you to that studio usually is not the person assigned to package weddings. That is not dishonest — it is what the math allows at a reduced rate, and plenty of associate photographers are excellent. It only becomes a problem when nobody tells you.

So ask, early:

Who specifically is assigned to my date?
May I see two or three complete galleries from that person?
Will that name go in the contract?
What do the upgrades I know I will need cost?
What is the package price without the service I do not want?

A package price is a starting price. Price the wedding you actually want, then compare the two totals. Sometimes the package still wins. At least you will know.

Flowers come down in the morning. The band stops at midnight. The photographs are what is still here in thirty years — and they are made by a person, not a line item on a package sheet.

Everyone will tell you your wedding day goes by in a blur.

They’re right. And it isn’t a bad thing.

Because the moments you’ll come back to years from now usually aren’t the posed ones. It’s the walk across the lawn when you thought nobody was watching. The way he looked at you when you weren’t looking back. The few minutes you stole alone before dinner started.

So those are the ones we photograph too — not just the portraits. You don’t need to know how to pose, and you don’t need to perform for us. You just have to be together. We’ll handle the rest.

The altar is off limits. Every photographer knows it.

You shoot from the aisle. From the back. From wherever the church tells you to stand.

This priest waved me past it.

So the frame isn’t two faces in a tight crop. It’s the vow and the entire room it was made in — stained glass, vaulted ceiling, and every person who drove out that morning to watch.

You can’t plan this. You can only ask, and be ready for the yes.
