I like to let families breathe, even in a short session. I want to give them photos that bring a sense of peace and calm, and help them remember what it felt like to slow down and enjoy their kiddos. Years from now, I hope these images bring them right back to these little moments that pass far too quickly.

I LOVE it when someone tells me this is the first time they’ve gotten family photos.

I don’t have to tell them to focus on their kids or stop smiling at the camera in every shot. They naturally pause to give their spouse a smooch. When their baby squeals with laughter, they throw their head back and laugh from their heart. When I ask them to take a family walk, they naturally soak in the surroundings and love on their family.

For too long, photos have been all about glamour and making every image a stand-alone icon shot. There is a place for those.

What I’m here for is to photograph people’s hearts.

And that doesn’t happen when they’re performing.

This evening was so light and warm. We had strong wind, but it felt good. Baby had so much fun playing with mommy and daddy, and it made getting amazing natural images easy. I love sessions like this where everyone can just relax, play, and enjoy being together.
