What does a session day look like at Belle Etoile?

10am: You arrive! I greet you with a big smile, show you where you can put all of your belongings, and we snap your “before” picture. Then, I will start your hair & makeup (yes, me! I am also a licensed cosmetologist) which will take about an hour. During this time, we get to talk and get to know each other!
11am: hair & makeup is finished! Once we make sure you love everything, we will step into the client closet/changing room area, check out everything you brought, and also look through client closet options). If you decide to use the client closet, you will have time to try outfits on, and I’m always available if you need any help deciding on your outfit choices ☺️
11:15am: before we start shooting, we will sit down together and talk about how you’d like to be captured, what your insecurities are, what you love about yourself, and what level of retouching you’d prefer, so that I can capture you to the best of my ability 🥹 once we begin shooting, I will guide you through the entire process, showing you poses, making any adjustments as needed, as well as guiding you through movements and facial expressions. During this time, you will also get to see sneak peeks on the back of my camera!
12:30pm: we wrap up shooting, and it’s time for our 3 ish hour break! At this time, you will leave the studio. You are welcome to grab lunch, a coffee, browse shops, however you feel like spending your time. While you are out, I will be fully retouching about 80-100 of your photos! Retouching consists of skin smoothing and touching up things like dark under eye circles, blemishes, and bruises.
3:30pm: you come back to the studio and have a seat in our viewing area, where we will watch a slideshow of all of your retouched images together! 🥹 this is also the time where we design any products or select any prints that you might want to order. We finalize your order and then you are on your way! Digital images are delivered the very same day as your session, and most other products are delivered in 1-3 weeks. We exist in a society that feeds us the narrative that our bodies need to look a certain way to be worthy, desirable, or beautiful. We have been taught to scrutinize every.little.thing about our bodies, and compare ourselves to everyone else. We’ve been taught to believe that our value is tied to our appearance, but that’s simply not true.

You are allowed to take up space exactly as you are. There is nothing wrong with the body that carries your heart, your spirit, and your story. 🫶🏼 I know it’s hard sometimes, but try to see yourself with the same grace you give everyone else. If no one has told you lately, you are loved. ❤️🥰
