Taken in Gold Beach Oregon while waiting for my breakfast to be prepared by a random food truck, sitting in the marina's parking lot. It isn't a shot that I planned on getting, but I thought the clean lines along with the reflection would be interesting.

Random crow at Shore Acres who seemed pretty interested in what i was doing. I'm sure it was waiting to see if I had any food I was willing to part with, but I was the only one who gained anything from this interaction.

Shore Acres State Park. The wave action at this location is insane. The steep underwater incline does not allow the waves to gradually dissipate their energy before slamming into the rock formations. The tilted rock formations direct the explosive energy of the waves upwards creating spray as high as 300' during storm events.

Cape Sebastian overlook. The fog rolled in as the sun was setting over the Pacific Ocean. The approaching cold front brought stronger winds and a drop in temperature. Witnessing this scene made me think less about not having my jacket with me. Suffering the elements comes with the territory as long as I "get the shot".

Natural Bridges, Oregon Coast. I discovered that not every photo opportunity is worth the risk of getting to it. The angle that I wanted to get was down a steep trail, while walking across a sheer cliff that mountain goats would reconsider traveling on. Falling rocks from above or a misstep and you risk serious injury or death. So I settled for this shot instead which was also sketchy to get to, but not nearly as bad or risky.

Southern Oregon, near Brookings.
Although the sky lacks texture, the sand and water running over it create an endless variety of patterns and textures to choose from.

As I was making my way around the rim road of Crater Lake, the sun was setting to the west and produced this intense orange band on the horizon. It was too nice to ignore, so I pulled over and took this snapshot.

Southern Oregon coast, near Brookings. This is part of (or near) the Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor, a 12 mile stretch that runs along one of the most dramatic sections of the entire Oregon Coast Trail. I could've spent my entire 2 weeks just in this section of Oregon, but, there were other things to see and do further north. (as you'll see in future posts).

Crown Point in the Columbia River Gorge, also known historically as Thor's Heights or Thor's Crown is a scenic lookout along the Historic Columbia River Highway, providing a panoramic view of the Columbia River. Sitting atop Crown Point is Vista House, which serves as a memorial to Oregon pioneers and a comfort station for travelers.

The PNW is a special place, with magnificent waterfalls, rugged coastline, huge trees, and moss everywhere. Throw in some volcanic geology and it's a target rich environment for photography. This is the first of many photos that I will share from my recent trip. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.
