It's been awhile since I've taken photos of a waterfall. (not many of them in Florida!) Got the opportunity today to get out and walk around. Taken in Tyoga State Forest. It was near freezing this morning, and 12 hours later, I'm still cold.

Did you know that Turkeys can fly at 55 miles per hour, can see almost 360 degrees and has vision 3x better than humans. They can also change the color of the 'waddle" skin under their neck depending on what mood they're in. They can remember up to 30 individual turkeys on sight, and remember human faces. Now you know.

It has taken me a few weeks to get the redesigned website working correctly. But, It's DONE. If you have the time, please take a look and provide feedback (good or bad), and feel free to share it with your friends. It's one of the few places where I get to show off all of my hard work. Thanks.

A photo that I've had for awhile, but just now posting. I love Street photography, just don't get the opportunity to do it very often. If I lived in a larger Urban environment it would be easier, but for not I will settle for Landscapes and Wildlife Photography.

The Great Horned Owl's biggest threat comes from humans. The leading causes of injuries to great horned owls are being shot, snagged in a barbed wire fence, electrocuted, struck by a vehicle, or caught in a trap. Some have shown up at raptor rehabilitation centers after being poisoned.

What I've learned so far about bird photography.

1. When starting out, photograph big birds, they don't move around very fast.
2. Try to capture interesting behaviors, or capture them in pretty light.
3. There is, almost always, a branch in your way.
4. The smaller the bird, the higher the ISO and the faster the shutter speed.
5. Invent new cuss words.

Merritt Island NWR. Snowy Egret

Did you know...

In 1886, Egret plumes were valued at twice the price of gold at $302 per ounce. This value was due to the immense demand for these feathers in the craze of Victorian fashion trends during this time period. With no other material being able to take its place, people paid handsomely for these feathers because they wanted them so badly. These valuable feathers continued to be in high demand until around 1915 when their popularity began to decline with the advent of new materials and fabrications
