It’s kind of wild how someone so tiny can come home and somehow just… fit.

Into your arms, your routines, your mornings, your family. Into a life that was already full, with its own rhythm and its own little chaos.

And then, before you know it, you can’t really remember what it felt like before they were here.

Like they weren’t someone new you had to make room for, but someone who had always been missing from the picture.

17! But she just got her first yellow little tikes car like, yesterday? How is this possible?!? The “mom can you drive me” era is over and my baby is gaining a whole new sense of freedom and independence. I’m not crying you are 😭. Slipping through my fingers and man it makes the heart ache but I am so excited for her too. I’m so proud of her- my girl with huge visions, who never takes no for an answer, who is an extreme perfectionist, endlessly thoughtful, beyond sweet and loving and mesmerizingly beautiful. I’ve been in awe of her since the day she was born. I love her dearly, appreciate her deeply, and wish her everything good in this life.

Your kids are full of personality ! Don’t be afraid to let them show it during your family shoot. Their personalities are what makes the photos memorable. Everyone look at the camera moments are nice and all but those aren’t the photos that make you feel something when you look back at them. Have fun during your shoot :)

As your kids get older, family photos become even more precious.

The schedules get busier. The teens get pickier about taking pictures (or being seen with you at all 😂). Getting everyone in the same place, at the same time, suddenly feels like an accomplishment in itself.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, you realize how quickly everything is changing.

The little kids who used to run into your arms are suddenly taller than you. The moments you used to live every day are becoming memories you wish you could hold onto a little longer.

Does anyone else feel like they’re running out of time????Not in a dramatic way, just in that quiet, bittersweet way that comes with watching your kids grow up.

I know we can’t slow it down, but we can make sure we have something to look back on. Photos of you together, exactly as you are right now, before this version of your family becomes another chapter you wish you could revisit.
