Media Release: Investigators Seeking Additional Victims in S*xual Assault Investigation

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m., a juvenile victim ran to the Cornelius Police Department and alerted deputies to an assault that took place near the 1600 block of North Adair Street in Cornelius.

With the information the victim provided, Cornelius and Sheriff’s Office deputies located the suspect, 42-year-old Daniel Le Brun of Cornelius, barricaded within a business at the Plaza Grande business complex. Le Brun was armed with several less-lethal-style guns and knives and refused to surrender.

Responding deputies requested additional support from the Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT), the Crisis Negotiations Unit (CNU), and other crisis-response specialty teams. Using a drone, deputies monitored Le Brun’s movements inside the business complex while negotiators attempted to communicate with him.

At about 1:00 a.m. Friday, TNT members took Le Brun into custody, and deputies transported Le Brun to an area hospital for ingesting a potentially lethal amount of medication. On September 1, Le Brun was discharged from the hospital and taken to the Washington County Jail for the following:

• Attempted murder in the first degree
• Assault in the first degree
• S*x abuse in the first degree
• Unlawful use of a weapon

Further investigation into the crime scene led to the discovery of a concealed room inside the business complex where the crimes occurred. Detectives are concerned that additional victims have not been identified and believe Le Brun had access to children through his affiliation with the memorabilia business.

Detectives want to speak with anyone who witnessed the assault or has information about Le Brun and encourage parents to speak with their children about any contact they have had with him, whether at the store or otherwise. Please contact VCU detectives at 503-846-2500 and reference case number 50-26-12158.

In accordance with Oregon House Bill 3273, the Sheriff’s Office is releasing Le Brun’s booking photo to assist in identifying any additional criminal activity.

Some great reminders from the wonderful people over at FGPD!

Some great reminders from the wonderful people over at FGPD!

I'm just gonna go ahead and put this here...

We're supposed to have a soggy few days ahead, consider this your first of many reminders to take a little extra care when driving in liquid sunshine, especially as it will be extra slick from built up grime from the long dry spell.

Slow down, turn your lights on, slow down, avoid using cruise control, slow down, use proper windshield wipers, and slow down.

And lastly, don't forget your duty as an Oregonian to put your hands on your hips, scan the clouds, and say something along the lines of "we needed this" at least once. It's a civic obligation.

Stay safe out there, make good choices, and call if you need us. We'll be here.
