ROLL CLOUD IN MOTION

This time-lapse shows a roll cloud moving through Elizabethtown on Wednesday evening (08/12/2026).

A roll cloud is a low, horizontal, tube-shaped cloud that can form along the leading edge of a thunderstorm’s outflow. Unlike a tornado, a roll cloud is detached from the storm base and rotates around a horizontal axis as cooler air pushes underneath warmer air.
