Some Ralph-Gibson-esque moments from the 45th Annual Somerville High School Pioneer Marching Band Festival, Oct 17, 2026, Somerville, NJ.

There were 16 marching bands and their color guards from NY and NJ performing. I tried to take advantage of the wind and bright sun to backlight the uniforms and props for some interesting shapes! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

This monumental project on triptychs brings together 90 extraordinary artists from around the world. The major group exhibition has an accompanying publication exploring sequence, rhythm, and narrative structure across 270 curated photographs. The images in my triptych (slide 1) were taken earlier this year at Chinese Lunar New Year ๐Ÿงง celebrations in Holmdel, NJ.

The ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ž ๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ group exhibit will be on view throughout the entire festival (Oct 17โ€“27). There are two dedicated casual Artist Gatherings & Presentations, where participating artists will share insights into their work:
Session 1: Sunday, October 18, 6-7pm
Session 2: Saturday, October 24, 6-7pm

Both gatherings are free and open to all visitors! Unfortunately I cannot attend, but I so wish I could be there for the entire 11 day festival!

See slide 3 for a digital mock-up of the book. The interior pages are still a surprise to discover in person at the festival! I have ordered my copy and cannot wait to behold it in Nov!

A breather.

I have been to Duke Farms many times over many years in all seasons. Yet itโ€™s always novel, to behold and with what I can capture with the given weather, light, shadow, season and color. Or in monochrome.

These were taken earlier this week, a beautiful autumn October afternoon. A needed reprieve. ๐Ÿ‚
