Greetings from Natchitoches, LA.
Along with it being Homecoming Weekend at Northwestern State University, where I was working yesterday, the city is currently hosting the Fall Mid-Sized Cities Conference.
Aa part of the occasions, the city is previewing its famed riverside Christmas lights and fireworks festival.
I almost missed the fireworks last night. I was in my car, parked along the river road, moments from heading to my hotel after dinner, when I heard the explosions of the opening volley of fireworks coming from directly across the river.
I hopped out of my car and watched the show.
Impressive display.

Dropped off my weekly Along-the-Road FedEx shipment and came upon this event, by surprise, a block away. In Galveston's historic downtown cultural district. Good timing, a nice surprise.

A week-ending session at the University of Houston means, once again, a weekend of R&R on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

Arrived in San Marcos/New Braunfels/Gruene TX at a good time. A lot going on in historic Gruene, this weekend.
Primarily the Music, W**e and B**r Tasting Festival. But action all over town.

The last session of the Spring semester tonight. At Kent State. Came to campus early, visited the May 4th Center and walked the memorial grounds. I've been here twice before, but it is still incredibly moving. A very well done memorial. And they were setting up the grounds for this year's commemoration, which will be next week.
