Do we actually have to do that? 😶🫣

A question I wish more couples would ask.

Because the answer is usually...
No.

You do not have to do a bouquet toss.
You do not have to do a garter toss.
You do not have to cut a cake if you don’t even like cake.
You do not have to stand in a receiving line shaking 150 hands when all you want is 10 minutes alone with your new spouse.

You do not have to follow a wedding rule book written by people you’ve never met.

Here’s your permission slip:

If a tradition feels meaningful, keep it.
If you’re excited about it, do it.
If it sounds fun, absolutely.

But if you’re only doing it because you think you’re supposed to?
Skip it.

The best weddings I’ve photographed weren’t the ones that followed every tradition.
They were the ones where the couple made intentional choices.

The weddings where they stopped asking, “What are we supposed to do?”

And started asking, “What would make this day feel like us?”

That’s when the magic happens.

the secret to natural wedding photos isn’t posing. this is what most skip over ➡️

You want the candid, cute, super snuggly photos…
but I can’t get those if you aren’t candid, cute, and super snuggly.

Hear me out.

My number one request in inquiries?
“We want candid photos.”

10000% yes. SAME. I love candid photos.
They’re my favorite. They’re the reason I do this.

But the true meaning of candid is…
truthful. Unposed. Unscripted.

I can’t pose connection.
I can’t pose obsession.
I can’t pose that little forehead kiss you do when no one’s watching.
That’s all you, boo.

I’ll guide you. I’ll prompt you. I’ll make you laugh.
But I can’t manufacture chemistry.

If you want those giddy, cozy, “we forgot the camera was there” photos?

Be in love.
Be in the moment.
Stop worrying about how your hair looks.
Stop asking, “What do I do with my hands?”
Hold each other. Whisper something dumb.
Laugh with your double chins.

Sway. Snuggle. Be obsessed. And I PROMISE YOU the candid photos will come.

Because the best moments?
They’re never scripted. ✨🥰

couples say they want emotional photos but plan their day like a checklist 🫣

I can’t stand a shot list. 🫢I feel like it’s a pain for you to put together, it limits creativity, and then photographers spend more time checking the shot list rather than living in the moment and capturing the day as it unfolds.

I promise to get the detail photos.

I promise to get photos of you and your mom as she zips your dress.

I promise to photograph your first look with your father.

I promise to do my job and get all of the meaningful photos that matter and that are for sure on your shot list. Those are second nature to me and I love capturing them! 🤝

But in order to get the “step further” photos where you look at it and get teary eyed, or say “I didn’t even see that happen”, you have to let me do what I do best and capture the day as it happens!

I’ll bring your dress outside, maybe throw your shoes on a railing, or even put your rings in a random soap dish because it matches the vibes. But if I’m on a time crunch and checking a list, then my brain can’t turn into creativity mode and get the unique, storytelling photos you desire. ✨

And who wants basic, checklist photos anyways? Let’s get the emotional, meaningful, and unique-to-you wedding photos. Don’t ya think? 🫶🤭

the reason why I will literally clear a room if it helps you get the moment you want…

You hired me to do a job. To capture your wedding day. To capture the joy. To capture the day that you and your partner start the next chapter of your life.

I won’t let other people ruin it.

I’ve walked into too many bridal suites where tensions are high, people are telling you minor inconveniences that are irrelevant, everyone is trying to be helpful but in being helpful it’s actually just overwhelming.

I’m not afraid to step in.

I’ve asked bridal suites to clear, to give you a moment. I’ve asked moms to step away before your first look. I’ve asked MOH to go get you a water or champagne and then hang out outside for a moment.

Sometimes all the help and love can be a lot. I’m here to protect your day. Protect your photos and protect your wedding vision.

It’s your day. Your vision. Your photos. Your memories. I won’t let things go off the rails.

if your photographer is “invisible all day”… you’re missing moments

It’s rare that you don’t know where I am throughout the day.

Typically I’m by your side, up in your grill, walking you from one place to the next.

I’m not the photographer who stands back and watches. I’m a take charge, lead-the-way, be-in-the-dance-circle type of photographer and that’s why my clients book me.

If your photographer is standing in the corner, invisible, and fly on the wall, I do believe they get some great shots… however, I truly believe that you miss some moments that are up close and personal.

From dancing together in the middle of the dance circle, to first looks in a secret garden, to bustling your dress during your private dinner - I’m around and there to help so I can grab those private moments.

I know when to give you space and to take a step back, let you be and have some quiet time. But I also will be the first one at your side when your grandma comes up to you and the only one in the room when your dad sees you for the first time. The only one who will watch the groom cry at a sentimental gift.

The only one who will capture every sentimental moment and be there for it all.

If this sounds like the kind of photographer you’re looking for, reach out and let’s plan your perfect wedding

Hot take: kids aren’t supposed to “sit still and smile” for photos.

They’re supposed to run around barefoot, make silly faces, interrupt everything, and turn your session into a little bit of chaos 🤍

And honestly? That’s where the magic is.

Because when I let your kids just be kids -
that’s when we get the real stuff.

The belly laughs.
The wild energy.
The way they cling to you mid-run or hide behind your legs.

The moments that actually feel like your family right now.

No forcing. No stiff posing. No meltdowns.

Just you guys, exactly as you are - and photos that will mean so much more because of it.

If you’ve been worried your kids are “too wild” for photos…
they’re actually perfect for them.

Let’s turn the chaos into something you’ll want to hold onto forever.

Let’s book your Spring family session before it gets too toasty!

most couples don’t realize they scheduled their wedding in a way that kills their photos

You schedule 15 minutes for family photos, 10 minutes for you to get dressed, and 10 minutes of portraits post ceremony and then expect 1/4th of your gallery to be full of beautiful portraits of the two of you. It won’t be.

Getting ready is a time to not rush. It’s your quiet time to yourself. Probably the first moment where you’re like holy smokes. I’m getting married today. The moment with your mom, sister, MOH, or by yourself that’s sentimental and stunning.

Family portraits are the bane of every wedding day. Every couple typically dreads them, they’re stressful and they’re chaotic, often. Scheduling enough time that we can breeze through them, but not rush, allow time for grandma to walk up and down the stairs, and time for you to say hey and give hugs to all of your relatives.

Post ceremony you’re so anxious to get to your reception you schedule 10 minutes with your new spouse to take pictures. That’s not even enough time to move locations or get a different angle.

The reason we’re here is for you two and I want your wedding gallery to be full of photos of y’all. But in order to do that we have to reserve time and work together

the awkwardness in photos usually starts before the camera comes out

Maybe like 10% of the world is “good at photos”

The most common thing I hear is “we’re not good at photos. We need help. We’re so awkward”

Girl, same.

That’s why you have me.

To break the ice, get you warmed up and comfortable and forget the camera is even there.

Half of our session is a yap session where we get to know each other, make terrible dad jokes, and talk about our pets.

The other half is full of prompts, ideas, photos, trying something new, and capturing you two as you are.

No awkwardness. No uncomfortable silences. No making out in front of the camera 5 seconds into the session.

I feed off of you, and I guide you through the photoshoot. I read your vibes, come up with playful poses or prompts, and capture all of the in between moments that truly make your gallery unique.

So no, you don’t have to be a professional model to get good photos, you just need me. :)

POV: you thought you didn’t care about the “getting ready” photos… until they end up being your favorite.

I can’t tell you how many couples say, “we don’t need a ton of the beginning stuff.”

And I get it - you’re excited for the ceremony, the party, the big moments.

But here’s the part no one talks about:
those quiet, in-between moments at the start of the day?
they’re the only time it’s just you.

It’s your mom zipping your dress with teary eyes.
Your best friends laughing on the floor.
That deep breath before everything begins.

No timeline pressure. No audience. No performance.

Just you… being fully in it.

And those photos?
They’re the ones that feel the most like you - intimate, unfiltered, and real in a way nothing else is.

So no, you don’t have to care about that part of the day…

but it might just be the part you feel the most when it’s all over.
