Thankful, grateful and humbled.

Everyday I pinch myself and reflect how damn lucky I am to have this life. When I say I have the best job I am not joking. I laugh, cry and smile from ear to ear on a daily basis because of YOU, my Photog family.

I’m so honored to capture your family, brand, businesses and events. It’s going to be a fun year with the new studio! I will still be shooting on location for the majority of sessions but having this space to gather people and offer others a space to create is a dream come true. Stay tuned-Monday brings all the details!

When you catch the bond between siblings. She never saw it coming…

You gallery from a session with me will look different. I only strive for about 25% of your images to have someone looking at the camera directly. The rest are about the way you interact and look at each other. Lots of candids, play and movement tell your story much better than the super posed.

Keep it simple. Family portrait clients often worry about outfits and if you don’t know where to start I suggest these three things.

1. Start simple-figure out what colors will look best in the setting/location. You can either match the tone or purposely stand out with a high contrast.

2. Fit-wear something that fits you well and makes you feel good. If you are uncomfortable it’s hard to enjoy being in it.

3. Go for texture and movement. Richer fabrics lay and photograph better.

Every client of mine gets access to a style guide and online styling website tool. The online styling guide asks you questions about your color preference and style (boho, classic, modern). It then generates tons of outfit choices for each member of your family that all coordinate but don’t match perfectly. You can then shop directly on the website or you can find similar items in your closet or elsewhere.

I also offer my humble opinion where needed so you aren’t alone to figure it out.

I guess I should post on my grid and not just my stories. Fall and Winter Mini sessions went live at 8pm tonight. There are still 1-2 spots for fall and 10 for the Chicago Indoor Mini with the cutest setup. No rescheduling, warm happy kids and big gold balls I let them throw at me. Win win.

Side note: I am extremely humbled by the immediate response within the first hour. I’m a self taught Photog who never in her life imagined this would be my path. I feel so loved because so many of you texted me congratulations on booking so quickly and letting me know how excited you are. The feeling is beyond mutual because if you are a client I creep on your pages often, silently rooting for your family’s happiness, feeling your rough patches and most of all loving you from afar.
