I pulled into the CCISD East Agriculture Center not knowing exactly what to expect — just that I was meeting Alyssa, a Clear Creek senior, and her FFA project animals, Tazz and Loretta. As Alyssa and her sweet mama gathered her animals, awards, and an extra outfit, we headed out to the pasture to make some memories… and y’all, we really did.
Let’s talk about Tazz for a second. He’s a steer, and he is BIG — especially standing next to Alyssa, who’s a petite little thing. It didn’t take long to realize that this big ol’ guy might as well be Alyssa’s oversized teddy bear. The love and care she’s poured into him shines through in every single image. And then there’s Loretta. I didn’t know pigs could smile, but Loretta absolutely proved me wrong. She was all about the belly rubs, perfectly content to lay down, root around, and just hang out like she owned the place.
Alyssa has truly poured her heart into her senior projects, and it shows. Watching her with her animals — the dedication, responsibility, and genuine love — is something really special.
This fall, Alyssa is headed to Tarleton University in Stephenville to pursue a degree in Animal Science, and I have no doubt she’s going to do amazing things. I can’t wait to see all that the future holds for her — her best chapters are just beginning 🐮🐷🎓
If you’re a senior in FFA and want to capture the hard work you and your project animal have put in this year, I’d love to help preserve those memories for you.
