Only one spot left for $25 black & white medium format film portraits at my studio, Village Photo Studio.

A Village Portrait is an invitation to check back in with yourself through an authentic, unposed portrait. Captured entirely on black-and-white medium format film with a 50-year-old Japanese camera, every detail is lovingly decided so you don't have to perform. No pressure, no awkward posing. Just show up and exist in front of my lens.

Here are some of my favorites from the grand opening of my studio.

Again, there is only one spot left. Grab it before it's gone.

This weekend is the grand opening of my photography studio. Stop by for a $25 black and white medium format film portraits. Click the reservation link in my bio to book your time slot.

This is an affordable, convenient way to get an authentic artful portrait made that means more than social media content. These portraits are made using a 50 year old fully mechanical camera which makes for a more thoughtful experience overall.

I've scraped together every bit of energy, money, time, willpower, and critical thinking I could to make the studio a success. There have been many hurdles along the way including petitioning the city, following up with inspectors, hours spent navigating public facing insurance, and more. I've spent early mornings at the studio and late nights while I try to spend as much time with my family, staying on top of work, all while continuing my portrait project of photographing hundreds of strangers and getting to know them.

The studio has quickly become the home to a community of photographers that we call Village Photo Club. Over the course of the last few months we have grown from 15 people to over 75.

I'd love for you to see what I've put together. I could use your support in booking a session , whether for you, your child, your mom, your best friend, or someone else. Please book a $25 session and trust that a simple, heartfelt photograph could be an important check-in with yourself. In the age of AI, we owe it to ourselves.

I know I have been pretty absent from this page. Over the course of the last year or two. I've been heavily focused on a film portrait project in which I photograph individuals on medium format film, usually black and white. I've met, gotten to know, and photographed more than 100 strangers in the last year. I'm currently working on a zine as well as a gallery exhibit.

The images are shot on a 50-year-old completely mechanical camera. The film is processed locally, and I carefully scan each negative to pull as much fidelity out of the frames as possible. In the age of AI photography, I'm finding purpose in photographing individuals and families as authentically as possible.

I've also been hard at work on my brick and mortar studio, Village Photo Studio, which is located in Warren, just a half mile from my house. (I can walk to work.)

In addition, I've been building a community of photographers that I call Village Photo Club. What started with 15 people gathering in my studio has now turned into 75 gathering at an amazing Detroit community bar. Our next event is August 9th, and will be even bigger than the last.

The studio is finally ready to open for regular portrait sessions, as well as hourly rentals from other photographers and creatives.

The grand opening is this Saturday and Sunday, and I'm kicking off by offering $25 black and white medium format film portraits. If you're a fan of my work, or just want to support my dream, please book a session for you or someone you know at the link below. There are limited spots.

I am in search of Mothers, or daughters, who are interested in being photographed on medium format film while they share their unique perspective on being and/or having a Mother (recorded on audio.)

I was raised by an amazing Mother, and I've seen Diana's experience first hand. I understand that it is an immense experience, and I think it's worth talking about and sharing with strangers because of how isolating, empowering, terrifying, and incredible it can feel.

Or you can have a conversation with your mom at the studio. Or your child. If you mom isn't around anymore, bring a photo of her for me to scan.

The sessions will be free of charge. I won't share our entire conversation, just clips that you approve paired with your photo. Lately, I've been pairing my film portraits with audio clips. It gives the viewer some context, and I think connects us.

Please reach out if you're interested in a free session next week.
