1. Figure out where your priorities are- is it venue, food, photography, (wink). Figuring out what your priorities are first will help with the budget later and save you some stress.
2. Choose a venue that speaks to YOU- the vibe and aesthetics are endless, but just because your mom wants you to get married in a ballroom, doesn't mean you have to. If you want an artsy warehouse, let's do it. If you love the light in a greenhouse, then hell yeah!
3. You don't need to invite EVERYONE!- that's right! My rule is, if you haven't spoken to people in over a year they don't make the list. Also, invite the people who have truly supported your journey, not just the engagement.
4. Don't sweat the small stuff- this goes for things like favors or takeaways. Guests will remember the food, the fun and how the day made them feel. They won't remember the favors or items that can be easily thrown away. Save your money.
5. Don't worry about traditions- you're only in your bridal era once so do what you want! You want the day to feel like you and it's 2026, make a new tradition!
6. Allow buffers in your timeline- I'm a huge advocate for this as this can help keep the day running smoothly. Extra buffers=less stress.
7. Hire or allow people to help you so you can truly be present- I'm not just talking about the venue coordinator, (they do a lot of work, don't get me wrong) but it helps greatly when you hire an actual wedding planner or designate someone in the family to help. They help with so many moving parts, not just your venue!
