The Autumn Dog Studio

The Autumn Dog Studio Images of real-life, uninterrupted. Completely candid wedding photography. I will photograph you the way your best friends and families see you.

Together we will make something that is so much more than just wedding or portrait photographs. Together we'll make your legacy. You and your families will be seen for who you are, as you are. Just honest candid images of the way things happened. And every step of the way you need a photographer that knows what matters and focuses on that - and nothing else.

I recently said to a friend (, naturally):

"I hope that 2022 couples feel the freedom to be late. To go where they want. To go rogue on their wedding days."

And I truly stand by your freedom to do as you please. And I'll rejoice quietly with you in each and every decision you make.

For example, Chase and Dorothy, who were an OG pandemic couple that were scheduled to get married in early 2020. They ultimately said vows on a family porch, but still longed for that moment of getting dressed up and seeing each other in full glory.

So for an hour in October 2021, I rejoiced with them, followed their explorations, and gained insight into the places and things they love about their town. They had a little dance in front of the aerial lift bridge, they popped champagne on Seven Bridges road, they leaned into one another and for 60 minutes straight were simply in awe of the person they married.

I hope you find this level of rejoicing in your day. Leave unscheduled time. Make pit stops. Detour.

Go rogue.

Starting in just a few days is a series of 2022 marriages that I get to witness and create images to tell stories about for all time. And even if the world feels chaotic and big and uneven, celebration is meant to be found in these times.

Because with pain is joy and vice versa, and if all you can do in a given moment is toss yours hands in the air while dancing with somebody you love, you should do that.

And I'll be there to witness it and preserve it for you.

Hello friends!

It's been a long time since we had a post here - this summer has been filled with all of your incredible celebrations. Marriages. Animals. Babies. Graduations.

I'm always so, so incredibly grateful to get to tell these stories with you.

In all honesty, I found that my life away from social media was far better than I could have imagined. I still schedule posts occasionally, but typically I find that in-person interaction and loving on you is my favorite kind.

A lot of updates/blogs/posts/images/stories/love goes through the blog these days - it's the main way I get to feature all of you. And the best way to stay up to date on these is to sign up for the email list! You can find the link here -> https://view.flodesk.com/pages/5fa1adbb2a56073ef5e9a606

I'm also at about 50% capacity for events next year - I say this not urge you or rush you, but to say I still have openings every month for you. I can't wait to party with your people.

I recently added film to both the photography and videography options - real life analog film! How exciting.

And again, thank you always for your love and support. It's a wild ride serving all of you, and I can't wait to continue.

My dear friend Ashley of says to me: putting a digital mat on my images makes them look and feel like the art they are.

She's right.

Weddings this year have been THE BEST. and not just because weddings are lovely. I have this incredible lineup of couples who have trusted me to just show up, and create images of what I see.

I'm starting to get even more creative, bringing disposable cameras/film too.

Here's 7 of my favorites from K/N's wedding party, on those disposable cameras. What a feeling.

Sean and Sarah are active in the outdoors, and chose to take the long way to their ceremony in Lester Park. 10/10, would recommend a wedding day hike.

This little story is going to hit the blog this Saturday, and I can't wait 🤎

Tomorrow's the day.

I get to throw this harness back on. I get to photograph 10.5 hours of an event so carefully crafted, postponed, then crafted again. I get to be a near-silent witness to a pretty historic day in these families' legacies.

Weddings are always monumental. But this feels monumental for me too. There was so much that happened this last year that it feels unreal know I'm at the point where this season really begins. I'm right on the edge. The verge. The beginning of a year that's going to be filled with all these incredible things. It's like trying to sleep the night before vacation or a flight. It's that feeling of being on the very first page of a fresh new book, just about to read the first line.

Tomorrow, I get the honor of photographing everything to tell the story of what went down on this day, for this group of people. To be able to look back not just on pretty pictures, but the true story of what the hell happened.

And I can't wait.

Mariah, Jared, Igor, and Harold. Undirected. In their backyard. During Igor's last sunset.

Creating images that give space for pain, joy, healing, and grief is the biggest goal. There's nothing unwelcome here. However you bring yourselves is all that matters.

Instagram is a highlight reel, and so much of what's on the internet is fake.

But I hope you walk away with this one message: this life you're living, this one messy life, is valuable. However you show up. Whatever you're feeling. This moment you're in, no matter what it is, is worthy of being remembered however it unfolds.

When delivering films, I grab some stills (they're sort of like screenshots!) from the footage that can serve as individual frames of the story. This frame of Nathan's dad wiping a tear right after their ceremony is one of my favorites from their trailer last week.

As a filmmaker, my goals are to move around a lot, tell the story in the way it feels, and to capture those little things that happen in such a fleeting way (which, is pretty similar to my photography style). Sometimes those individual frames just pull at the heart, and that's why I choose to pull them out and deliver them alongside your films.

It's been a wild experience, diving deeper into films this year. But I'm pretty dang grateful for getting to tell your stories.

Ryan's father (father of the groom) gives a roller coaster of a speech.

Image taken in the moment in which he recalls his three late sons who couldn't physically be present to watch their brother get married.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: this s**t matters. Stories matter. Both those filled with 100% energy and joy and those filled with pain too. Everything is welcomed 🤎

Honestly, I'm not really one for birthdays. I don't like being the center of attention, I don't like unsolicited gifts; I'd much rather celebrate life on a random Thursday than the same day every year.

But it's classic, to ask for the one thing I do every year, and it's this: tell one person new about this photographer you know.

Tell them if they're looking for a story to be told, if they're getting married, even if they're not. Tell them how this photographer loves people exactly as they are, how they don't interrupt your wedding just to take photos, how they want you to love and squish your favorite people on your own terms.

95% of my couples come from incredible people who tell their friends and family about this photographer they know. There's a good chance you could know my next client.

And the only thing I want, that I ever want, is to make people feel loved and seen and heard during big moments in their lives.

So today, tell one person about this photographer. Share your favorite image I've ever taken of you and why you love it. Tag me in it. Talk about how you felt, how it went, why it matters so much. Just share a little bit of love.

And if even one person sees that, if I get to add even one incredible couple to my lineup this year or next, getting to serve them will be the best birthday present ever.

Thank you all for your support. Back to meaningful photos and awkward reels now.

Julia + Dusty, right after their ceremony. Taking a quiet toast to their new marriage together among the busy hustle and bustle of their bridal party, family, and friends.

This is the type of image that so many of my clients list as important. A moment of them together that feels private, but is encountered among the crazy of the party around them.

I've been posting more and more images lately, and it's because I definitely can't contain my excitement for this wedding season 🙃
