Having the Wright Dunbar Day Celebration right outside my door is something that I have been photographing for several years now and has been a good opportunity for me to get some greats shots of the people in my neighborhood.

Black Rodeo

Attended the inaugural Black Cowboy Rodeo today and it was a absolute blast!
The last Black rodeo I photographed was back in 2001 in Columbus, Ohio
I was really glad to see this come to Dayton.
We really needed something like this that not only family friendly but educational for kids to lean that the cowboy lifestyle is real and that it’s apart of there heritage and not just something you see on TV.
I had to lean about legendary black cowboys like Bill Pickett and Nat Love.
And the Buffalo Soldiers.
So I hope you enjoy viewing my photos as much as I enjoyed watching this entire event.

I attend the opening exhibition at The FotoFocus center in Cincinnati last Friday.
I was immediately impressed by the architectural design of the Center it’s self with it large windows facing street and the sunlight cutting across the open second floor balcony.
I was glad to see that the building wasn’t some old build that Cincinnati just wanted to save and renovated to save money.
As someone who has dedicated his life to the art of photography I always felt that photography in general deserves more.
And with the creation of this Center provided it.
Exhibition it self was a mix of works by lesser know artist and works by the greats.
Witch I highly enjoyed.
I’m so glad to see that photography finally has a permanent place to call home.

FotoFocus continues to celebrate and champion photography as the medium of our time through engaging programming that ignites dialogue and bridges the gap between contemporary lens-based art and the history of photography.

Founded in 2010 in Cincinnati, Ohio, FotoFocus prioritizes enriching access to lens-based art, film, and other practices inspired by photography. Collaborations with organizations, curators, academics, and artists have resulted in more than 800 exhibitions and programs to date. FotoFocus has also awarded over 550 grants to support partners presenting projects and educational programs that are accessible and engaging to the public.

This May, we are excited to open the new permanent home of FotoFocus: the FotoFocus Center. This 14,700 square foot, purpose-built structure, is designed to house photographic exhibitions and year-round programs.

We can’t wait to experience this landmark year with you!
