EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!!! ⚠️
I will no longer be publicly posting identifiable images of children or minors on my social media.
since the recent Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruling and the broader conversation happening around children, photography, AI, and the way images can be used online, I had to make this decision for the protection of my clients.
as a photographer, I have always believed that what I create carries a responsibility far beyond making a beautiful photograph. I’m trusted with people’s memories. I’m trusted with their families. I’m trusted with their children.
and protecting that innocence matters more to me than content, engagement, or growing my portfolio online. Once an image is posted publicly, we lose so much control over where it goes, who saves it, how it is shared, or what technology may eventually be able to do with it. as a photographer, I don’t want to contribute to that risk when I can make a different choice.
so I’m choosing the safer choice. this does not mean I’m stepping away from photographing families or children. I absolutely love that part of my work, and I will continue documenting these seasons of life for my clients. it simply means those images will be treated with a greater level of privacy and care.
I will also be going back through my existing social media and removing identifiable images of minors that I have previously shared.
as a mother, I understand how fiercely we want to protect our children.
as a photographer, I feel an obligation to protect the children who are entrusted to me, too.
their innocence is more important than my Instagram feed. always!!!! 🤍
