Thank you again arthousedallas for selecting my work to be a part of your annual 15th anniversary celebration and for allowing me the chance to share my ideas and inspiration behind this work.

We don’t honor destruction as much as we honor creation in the process of becoming.

To make room for something new

we must destroy identities,

patterns,

peace, and familiarity.

In order to find wisdom,

truth,

and most importantly, hope.

To me, the destruction process is as important as what is being created.

Joomchi is a 500-year-old traditional Korean art technique that uses water, hand manipulation, and friction to fuse multiple layers of mulberry paper (known as hanji) into a single, strong, leather-like fabric.

These photos were created at Anna Hong | DFW REALTOR® open house a few weeks ago. She had a brilliant idea to have me take portraits in the backyard for anyone that was willing.

I loved the idea because it’s VERY rare we get a picture of just ourselves that isn’t a selfie.

To have someone else hold the camera, give you their attention, directing you, seeing your beauty that we can’t always appreciate in ourselves is such a unique experience.

When was the last time you had a solo portrait taken? If the answer is never. Then, I’d love to get you in front of my camera before the year ends.

The only way to fail is to not participate.

I’m finally learning I’m here to share my art with the world.

And to share your art is probably one of the most vulnerable things a human can do.

But every time I put myself out there I’m learning something, I’m gaining something

So, I’m kind digging the rejection as much as the acceptance.
