Well, I think it's safe to say the Partners in Crime Photoshoots were a HUGE success! 😂🖤

I had a feeling these sessions were going to be fun, but OH MY GOSH...they were even better than I imagined!

Who knew a couple of best friends, some shovels, and a few questionable decisions could make for such a fun afternoon? 😂

What made these sessions so much fun was watching everyone get into character.

I love beautiful portraits, but there's something really fun about creating photos that are completely unexpected and a little outside the box.

To everyone who came out and trusted me with this slightly twisted idea...THANK YOU!

You made these sessions an absolute blast, and I hope you had as much fun as I did!

And now that I've seen how much fun we can have with a few props and a little imagination, my brain is already coming up with more ideas. 😂

Who says senior photos have to be taken outside with pretty fall leaves? 😂

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE a beautiful outdoor senior session.

But recently, I had a senior session that was a little different, and OH MY GOSH, was it fun!

We skipped the traditional outdoor locations and went full glam right here in the studio.

And when I say glam, I mean GLAM! ✨

This wasn't just about celebrating senior year. It was also about celebrating turning 18!

Two pretty big milestones, and I can't think of a better excuse to get dressed up, have some fun, and create some gorgeous portraits.

One of the things I love about senior photography is that there really aren't any rules about what it has to look like.

If your senior wants fall leaves and a cozy sweater, I'm all for it.

But if they want something glamorous, dramatic, and a little more fashion-inspired?

I'm DEFINITELY here for that too!

I had so much fun creating these images, and I cannot WAIT to share them with you.

You know what I love about Christmas photos?

It's not always the perfectly posed picture where everyone is looking at the camera.

Sometimes it's the little moments in between.

The giggles, the snuggles, the way your little one looks at you when they're excited about something, and the expressions that are SO them right now.

Those are the moments that become even more special as the years go by.

And that's exactly the feeling we're hoping to create with The Night Before Christmas — A Fla-mazing Storybook Mini Session. 🎄

I've partnered with Pink Flamingo and Redeemed Furnishings for this cozy Christmas experience, and I can't wait to see everyone enjoying a little holiday magic together.

Can we talk about how much work some people put into their Halloween costumes?

The makeup, hair, accessories, and the HOURS spent putting everything together.

And then what happens?

Someone takes three quick pictures on their phone in the kitchen before heading out the door. 😂

Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with those photos!

But if you've put that much time and creativity into bringing a character to life, why not have photographs that really show it off?

The right lighting, background, and posing can take a costume from something you're wearing to an entire scene.

And that's one of the things I love about themed photography.

It's not just about documenting an outfit.

It's about bringing an idea to life.

So if you've spent weeks creating an amazing Halloween look this year, PLEASE make sure you get some great pictures of it.

Even if they're just on your phone!

Because that creativity deserves to be remembered. 🎃🖤

I know Halloween isn't even here yet, but can we talk about Christmas for just a second? 😂🎄

Because every year it seems like we blink and suddenly it's December 15th, and we're wondering how we're going to get Christmas cards ordered, addressed, and mailed before the holiday.

Who decided that dressing up was just for kids anyway? 😂🎃

Seriously!

Somewhere along the way, we grow up and start thinking we need a special occasion or a really good excuse to put on a costume, but honestly...why?

One of the things I love about photography is that it gives us permission to have a little fun and be someone completely different for a day.

Want to dress like a glamorous witch? Go for it.

Have an elaborate costume you've spent months creating? Let's photograph it!

Want to channel your favorite movie character or step into a completely different decade? I'm here for that too!

You don't have to be a kid to enjoy playing dress-up.

And you certainly don't need to wait until Halloween to do it.

Sometimes a photoshoot is the perfect excuse to let your imagination run wild.

Well...I survived the weekend. 😂😈

And I have to say, the Partners in Crime Photoshoots were an absolute BLAST!

There were shovels, questionable decisions, some very suspicious behavior, and a whole lot of laughing.

Honestly, I had a feeling these sessions were going to be fun, but seeing everyone get into character made them even better than I imagined!

One of my favorite things about these themed sessions is watching people who might normally feel awkward in front of a camera completely forget about that because they're too busy having fun.

And that's exactly what happened.

To everyone who came out and participated...THANK YOU!

You trusted me with a slightly twisted idea, showed up ready to play along, and helped make these sessions so much fun.

Now comes the hard part...figuring out which photographic evidence I'm allowed to share. 😂

Okay, I have a question, and I need you to be honest. 😂

How many photos are currently sitting in your phone's camera roll?

And more importantly...

How many of those are screenshots you'll probably never look at again?

Because I swear our phones have become a combination of photo album, grocery list, recipe book, parking spot reminder, and random things we took pictures of because we were convinced we'd need them later.

And let's not even talk about the 37 nearly identical photos we take trying to get ONE good picture. 😂

As a photographer, I fully understand wanting to capture everything.

But sometimes I wonder how many amazing memories are buried between screenshots of recipes we never made and things we meant to buy six months ago.

So let's compare...

Here's something you might not have thought about when planning your next headshot...

The background matters almost as much as what you're wearing.

Not because it needs to be fancy.

Actually, sometimes the simplest backgrounds work best.

But the background helps set the tone of your image.

A clean, neutral studio background can feel polished and professional.

A workplace setting can give people a little more context about what you do.

An outdoor or environmental headshot might feel a little more relaxed and approachable.

And none of those is automatically better than the others.

It really comes down to where you're going to use the image and what you want it to communicate.

That's why I like knowing a little about your business, your profession, and what you're hoping to use your headshots for before we start photographing.

Because the goal isn't just to create a nice photo.

It's to create the right photo for YOU.

And no...you don't automatically have to stand in front of a gray backdrop wearing a blazer. 😂💕

Can we talk about how fast senior year is flying by already? 😳

I swear school just started, and somehow we're already halfway through October!

If you have a Class of 2027 senior and haven't scheduled their portraits yet, don't panic.

But also...don't keep putting it off. 😂

Fall is such a beautiful time for senior photos, and we still have opportunities to take advantage of the changing colors, cooler temperatures, and all those gorgeous fall textures.

And here's something parents don't always realize...

Your senior doesn't have to do everything in one session or even one season.

Depending on the session you choose, we can plan for different times of year.

Maybe fall portraits now, something different in the spring, and cap-and-gown photos closer to graduation.

It's a great way to capture different parts of their senior year without trying to squeeze everything into one afternoon.
