Confession...
I still get nervous before my own photoshoots.
You'd think after years of being a photographer, I'd be completely over it by now. But every time I'm the one stepping in front of the camera instead of standing behind it, those little thoughts still show up.
What if I feel awkward, don't like any of the photos or worse! What if I look older, heavier, or more tired than I think I do?
Sound familiar?
The funny thing is, I hear these same concerns from clients all the time. And every time, I understand them because I've had them too.
Being photographed can feel vulnerable.
You're trusting someone else to see you... and then show you what they see.
But here's what I've learned from doing it anyway...I've never regretted having the photos taken, not once.
Have there been images I liked more than others? Of course!
But every time I've stepped in front of the camera, I've walked away with something valuable. Sometimes it was a photo I loved. Sometimes it was a reminder that I'm far more critical of myself than anyone else is.
So if you've ever thought, "It's easy for you to say because you're a photographer," I promise you...
I'm human too. And I still get nervous and self conscious.
I just know from experience that what's waiting on the other side is usually worth it đź’•
