🖤🤍 THE HOLTONS 🤍🖤

I know I've been more than a little MIA from here lately and I promise it was for good cause. My youngest daughter was married yesterday and so much of my time has been wrapped up into planning and preparing for her big day to ensure it was the wedding she always dreamed of.
One thing I requested for the day was permission to have my camera and capture a few photos of the couple following the ceremony. I didn't need a lot of time, but wanted the ability to be behind the camera for a few shots to celebrate the day.
With the timing and itinerary I had less than 10 minutes, but that was all I needed to capture her beauty and their love. My dad brought one of his cars from his collection to the venue as well and that was the perfect accessory for our shots.
As I stare at these images now, tears stream down my cheeks from all the emotions. I'm so happy for their little family and yet a slight sense of sadness with the realization our babygirl is all grown up. I couldn't be more proud however. Congratulations Brooklyn and Thomas! OUT OF OFFICE CURRENTLY

I wanted to post this notice as my daughters wedding is now THREE days away and we are navigating all the last minutes plans (and snafus) and trying to remain calm and sane. I am currently unable to reply to texts, messages here or emails until after the wedding on May 30. I do apologize for this delay but promise I will be back with you ASAP after the wedding is behind us. I'm normally very good at multitasking however I want to ensure my daughter has my full attention from this point for her big day.

Thank you for your understanding and I can't wait to share some photos of her big day!! 🩷

SENIOR SESSION TIPS

One question I commonly receive from the guys is asking if I allow cars or trucks in senior sessions. The short answer is YES! The long answer is also YES but I'll add a little to that. I know how important a vehicle can be to someone. Whether it's a car that's been passed down a generation or two, your first car, a vehicle borrowed from someone simply because you live it or just the current vehicle you find yourself behind the wheel of, I am more than happy to incorporate a vehicle into your senior session.

We found two cool spots to incorporate this vehicle into Joe's senior session. His style was perfect for the garage door and parking garage shots and I loved how his images came out.

SENIOR SESSION TIPS

I talked about location tips yesterday and decided I would continue with that conversation today. The location selection for your senior session can play a significant role in how your senior photos turn out. So often I have seniors tell me they want to be sure their photos are different from those of their classmates. That often includes choosing locations away from their hometown area and going elsewhere for photos.

When the beautiful Elizabeth mentioned she was hoping to do some of her photos at the Iowa State Fair, I was more than game to tackle that request. She was set to show at the State Fair and it would be a perfect way to capture images that differ from others. We made plans to meet up one evening and even in spite of the high temps and thousands upon thousands of people in attendance, she nailed her session.

Locations such as the State Fair certainly bring challenges with the number of people and obstacles we are forced to work around, but it's nothing that can't be handled with a little patience. The State Fair provides numerous options all around the fairgrounds to fit most any request. Whether wanting photos in the Midway, around the Horticulture Area with flowers, in front of the many graffiti painted backdrops or around the barns to capture you with your animals, options are a plenty when choosing the State Fair.

I do offer specific State Fair senior packages now and those are extremely limited. Message me for more information and to check my availability!

SENIOR SESSION TIPS

Your senior season should be all about YOU! Everything from your outfit selections to personal added touches to season we shoot in to each location. I am always more than happy to offer up suggestions when it comes to location selections. I also am thrilled when you bring your own ideas to the table and tell me what you're looking for.

It was a first for me when shooting the beautiful Rilynn Fenton in her second senior session when she noted that she REALLY loved Taco Bell and hoped to do some of her photos incorporating her favorite fast food restaurant. We came up with a game plan on which location would work best for this and I made contact with the restaurant manager. They were more than accommodating, allowing us to take images inside and out and made sure to have fresh, hot food ready for her to use in the session as well. This session truly couldn't have gone any better and I had a blast stepping outside the box to bring her vision to life.

I can't always guarantee each and every location request will work out, but it never hurts to ask and see what we can do! I will do my very best to make your vision become a reality.
