Hi, my name is Ashlee Hayden. I am a local photographer based out of San Diego, CA. I specialize in a more natural, organic scene with few to no props at all.

Here is a little bit about me:

I am mom to two energetic boys, one feisty girl, and a wife to a very loving and supportive husband who has made my photography dreams possible. I have loved taking photos for as long as I can remember and have been capturing memories professionally since 2011, which has allowed me the flexibility to work while spending a lot of much needed time with my quickly growing children. I specialize in photographing couples, but starting in 2014 I began a new interest (more like obsession) with photographing newborns. As a mom, I can tell you they don’t stay small forever, so every single piece of them from their itsy bitsy toes, to their puckered little lips, needs to be documented and preserved forever in photographs that can be cherished for generations. And as a mother I understand the importance of capturing all of life’s important moments. I will do everything that I can to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, so that we can capture the realness of who you and your family are. If you have your heart set on a photographer that uses many props and forced poses, I am most likely not the photographer for you. I strive for creating a familial atmosphere with my customers. I want real photos, with real smiles.

A little adjusting here, some dress fluffing there, and of course me telling you to move your chin just a tiny bit for the 15th time. 😂

The sparkles, the fishnets, the red lip… I’m obsessed!
One of my favorite things about photographing women is getting to play around with different looks and bringing out a little bit of their personality.
And that smile?! I think it says everything! ❤️

But what is HE supposed to wear?! 🤍 PART 11!
Okay ladies, this week we’re keeping things light, simple, and a little romantic!
I know one of the biggest questions I get when planning maternity sessions is, “What should my husband wear?” And I promise, it doesn’t have to be complicated! 😂
For this gorgeous white gown, I put together three different looks for Dad!
🤍 Casual: A white tee, jeans, and sneakers. Simple, comfortable, and still looks great!
🤍 Semi-Formal: A light linen suit for a more dressed-up, romantic look.
🤍 Relaxed & Modern: A white linen shirt with neutral pants. A little more polished without feeling too dressed up.
And remember, you don’t have to match each other perfectly! The goal is to have outfits that complement each other without looking like you’re wearing uniforms. 😂

I had SO much fun with this session! Between the red-on-red look, that gorgeous dress, and switching things up with some moodier lighting, I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite.
And this is exactly why I love sharing behind-the-scenes videos with you guys! You get to see a little bit of what goes into creating these photos, because trust me, there’s a lot more happening than just standing in front of a camera. 😂
Now I need to know… are you loving the bold red background or the dark and moody look more?! ❤️

You don’t need to know how to pose, what to do with your hands, where to look, or how to stand.
Seriously. I will tell you EVERYTHING.
You just show up, let us get you all dolled up, and trust me to take care of the rest.
Because I promise, you’re going to look at these photos and think, “Wait… THAT’S ME?!” 😍

Okay, this one might be one of my favorites so far!
I LOVE a good black maternity gown, and this one gives us so many fun options for dad!
For this week’s looks, we’re going a little darker and moodier. We’ve got an edgy all-black outfit, a little Peaky Blinders inspiration (because why not?! 😂), and a more classic, semi-formal look.
And here’s the thing… Dad doesn’t have to wear a boring button-up and khakis just because we’re taking maternity photos! I want him to feel just as comfortable and confident in what he’s wearing as you do.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR RED!! 🥳❤️🎂
I figured today would be the perfect day to introduce you all to someone who is a HUGE part of Ashlee Hayden Photography!
Meet Jenise! Or as most of us know her, RED! ❤️
She’s our incredibly talented makeup artist, my right-hand woman in the studio, and most importantly, one of my very best friends!
If you’ve been in my studio, chances are you’ve already met her. She’s the one making sure you look and feel beautiful, helping me keep everything running smoothly, and probably making you laugh somewhere along the way. 😂
But what I really want you all to know is what an incredible human being she is. She’s beautiful inside and out, has the biggest heart, and is one of those people who makes life so much better just by being in it.
I genuinely don’t know what I would do without this woman. Not just in my business, but in my life. Having someone you can work alongside, laugh with, lean on, and call your best friend is something pretty special, and I don’t take that for granted.
Red, I hope you know how loved and appreciated you are. I’m so lucky to have you by my side, both in and out of the studio. I love you, friend!! ❤️

Becoming a mom doesn’t mean becoming less of the woman you were before.
You can be building a family and building a career.
You can be soft with your babies and still be a force everywhere else.
You can want motherhood deeply and still have big goals that belong entirely to you.
I think sometimes women are made to feel like we have to choose which version of ourselves gets to take up the most space.
We don’t.
You can raise babies, run businesses, chase goals, change diapers, make dinner, take the meeting, completely lose your s**t some days 😂… and still be one incredibly powerful woman.
Motherhood doesn’t take away from who you are.
It just adds another title. 🤍

This one is for my mamas who love that soft, light, romantic look.
When your dress is this delicate and dreamy, his outfit doesn’t need to compete with it. Think warm neutrals, linen, soft textures, and relaxed tailoring.
And no, he does not have to wear a full suit to look put together. 😂 A simple linen shirt and a good pair of pants can photograph SO beautifully.
Three completely different levels of dressed up, but all three work with the same gown.

I will never get tired of watching women come into the studio and realize just how freaking beautiful they are pregnant.
Because I know you might not feel like this every day. You’re uncomfortable, nothing fits right, you’re tired, and your body doesn’t quite feel like your own right now.
And then we put you in something like THIS… and there she is. 🔥
Still you. Still sexy. Still beautiful. Just growing an entire human at the same time. ❤️
