🚨 UPDATE #3 — AND I WANT YOUR OPINION ON THIS ONE. 🚨
My original post is STILL circulating, and one question keeps coming up:
“So are you just never going to post newborns, children or senior sessions again?”
Absolutely not. 🤍
I will still share my work.
I will still share newborn sessions.
I will still share family sessions.
I will still share senior sessions.
I will still share wedding days where children are involved.
But HOW I share them is changing.
And just to clear up one misconception — I have never shared photographs of children without consent. My clients have always had a say in whether their images could be used.
Going forward, though, even with permission, if the child is a minor, I personally don’t feel like their identifiable face needs to be displayed publicly on my business page.
That doesn’t mean every picture is going to have a giant blur across it. 😂
Sometimes you’ll see a blurred face.
Sometimes you’ll see them looking away.
Sometimes I’ll photograph them from behind.
Sometimes their face may naturally be hidden against Mom or Dad.
Sometimes I’ll share the tiny newborn toes, little fingers, curls, outfits, sports equipment, cap & gown, silhouettes or all of the other details that tell their story without telling the entire internet exactly who they are.
And yes — senior sessions are still happening and still being shared.
If they’re under 18, I’ll protect their identity in the images I publicly share.
If they’re 18+, they’re an adult and can decide for themselves whether they’re comfortable being identifiable on my page.
Meanwhile, my clients receive their FULL, ORIGINAL, UNBLURRED gallery privately.
Nothing about the memories I’m delivering changes.
Only what I choose to put in front of the entire internet does.
And here’s where I’m genuinely curious…
If you were hiring a photographer for your child TODAY, which would you prefer?
A) I’m completely comfortable with their face being posted publicly with my permission.
B)Please share the photographer’s work, but keep my child non-identifiable.
C) Please don’t share photographs of my child publicly at all.
D) I honestly hadn’t thought about this until this conversation started.
👇 Parents AND photographers — drop A, B, C or D below.
I’m genuinely curious how people feel about this now that AI has changed the conversation around what happens to photographs once they’re online.
No judgment. No arguing. I just want to see where everyone stands.
Because the internet we started posting our children on isn’t the same internet we’re posting them on today.
