Continuing to learn more and more about color in DaVinci Resolve. I’ve been happy with my switch to this year and I’m excited to keep working on new things this offseason as I continue to grow.

This is in h.265 which does have limitations, but you can still deliver a pretty image to say the least. Most of my work is n-log, h.265 10-bit for delivery purposes. Anything bigger and there’s a good chance that I could easily hit 1tb of footage on a race weekend if I’m not careful, and that’s just too much to handle lol.

Dollar for dollar, the Z6iii is one of the best bargains on the market. I went back and forth a ton when making the switch from canon, and I’m really happy with my decision to join the Nikon ecosystem after being with canon for almost 15 years.

Hoping to see more glass come to the z-mount but looking forward to adapting some quirky vintage lenses in the offseason to find a look that’s just a little bit different and more me.

Some recent work from Petit. More client edits coming today and tomorrow. Pretty happy with how a lot came out this week so I can’t wait to share more. Stay tuned.

Instagram overlords want ridiculously long captions now in order to see my work so here’s the Wikipedia info on the Edmund Fitzgerald: SS Edmund Fitzgerald was an American Great Lakes freighter that sank in Lake Superior during a storm on November 10, 1975, with the loss of the entire crew of 29 men. When launched on June 7, 1958, she was the largest ship on North America’s Great Lakes and remains the largest to have sunk there. Her wreck was located in deep water on November 14, 1975, by a U.S. Navy aircraft detecting magnetic anomalies, and soon afterwards found to be in two large pieces.

I hate it here so much.

Haven’t posted in a while, but Happy ! What a blessing to make art for a living. What a privilege.

A little over a year ago, I made the hard decision to abandon comfort, create for myself, and be fully independent of dreams.

And it was devastatingly hard. It still is. I thought too many times about “what a mistake” I had made. I experienced failure, and reckoned with immense self-doubt and loathing. I wanted to quit again. And I nearly did.

I’ve quit many times in my life. I’ve quit many things for many different reasons. Perhaps my love for art is less rooted in creating something pleasing, but rather rewarding those that try and try, and try again. It’s a limitless fountain of hope and inspiration, and for me, keeps me believing that this world is still beautiful.

Over a year later, I’ve experienced things I never in my life thought I’d get to be a part of, or thought enough of myself to deserve those opportunities. I’ve met amazing people, seen spectacular things, and made many new friends. If I had quit, I’d never have done any of these things.

And now I know what’s possible. I’m grateful to my amazing clients that believe in my work, and to an unbelievable support system that kept me from not getting off the mat.

Photographers/DPs/Artists - don’t give up. Surround yourself with those that root for your success and prove to your doubters that you don’t owe them one penny of your peace.
