It's maybe 20 minutes. But it's the most real 20 minutes of the entire day. No posing, no direction — just two people trying to hold it together while everyone they love watches.

That's exactly why this part of the day gets so much of our attention. It's unrepeatable.

Golden hour, ocean wind, and two people who can't stop smiling.

Lily & Jake's engagement session was full of laughing, hair blowing everywhere, and all the little "we're really doing this" glances.

Engagement sessions aren't just pretty photos — they're practice. It's often the first time a couple sees themselves through a camera together, gets comfortable in front of a lens, and learns how to actually relax into it. That comfort shows up big time on the wedding day: less stiffness, more genuine moments, better photos overall.

Emma & Troy's first look ♥

There's a reason we always fight to protect this moment on the timeline.

Before the guests arrive, before the ceremony music starts, before either of them says "I do" — there's this. Just the two of them, alone, seeing each other for the first time on the most important day of their lives.

No crowd. No pressure. Just Troy turning around to see Emma in her gown for the first time, and that split-second where every emotion hits at once — nerves, joy, disbelief, love.

It's one of our favorite things to photograph because it's real.

Unscripted. The reactions can't be repeated or redone. And it gives couples a few quiet minutes together before the whirlwind of the day begins.

Bridal prep is easily one of the most underrated parts of a wedding day — and one of the moments we see couples consider skipping most often. Here's why we always encourage our brides to keep it on the timeline:

This is the only time all day that's just you — no ceremony nerves, no reception schedule, just the quiet, personal buildup to the biggest moment of your life. The stationery you spent months choosing. The shoes you'll wear for five minutes and remember for fifty years. Your bridesmaids in matching robes, laughing on the bed like you have a hundred times before — except this time, it's the last morning you'll do it as somebody's daughter, not yet somebody's wife.

These photos aren't just "getting ready" pics. They're proof of the version of you that existed for one morning only: nervous, glowing, surrounded by the people who've been there from the start.

Carley, thank you for letting us capture every quiet, joyful minute before you said yes to forever with Miles.
