E&D. Where do I even begin?

I met them at a wedding in Michigan that I had the honor of photographing last year.

When they reached out and asked me to photograph their own wedding, it genuinely felt like the highlight of my year. I don’t think there is a bigger compliment than someone who has seen you work in real time choosing you for their own day. It is one thing to find someone online. It is another to witness how they move, how they hold a room, how they navigate a wedding day, and think, yes. Her. I want her there.

We started the day at their charming Chicago home, where I was introduced to the world’s sweetest angel of a puppy and given a full serenade on a homemade organ. Yes. Like a church organ, take me out to the ballgame organ. It was amazing.

From there, we headed to the beach on the warmest February day Chicago has seen in years. The lake was still and soft and quiet, and we ended downtown at the Chicago Theatre.

This weekend took me to a wedding in Michigan, an engagement session in Chicago, and then a flight back to Portugal.

Such a dream.

I’m Melody, a wedding photographer drawn to the moments that don’t ask to be noticed.

I’ve always loved stories that live in the quiet. Jane Austen once wrote, “If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more.” That idea shapes how I photograph weddings. The most meaningful moments are often the ones spoken without words, and those are the moments I’m always watching for.

I’m a calm presence on a wedding day, a quiet observer who steps in gently when needed and steps back when moments unfold naturally. I notice the glance before the kiss, the hand squeeze before the vows, the breath you didn’t realize anyone saw. My goal is never to interrupt what’s happening, but to preserve it honestly.

Outside of photography, I live between Michigan and Portugal with my husband and our puppy. I love strong coffee, long walks, late light, and the kind of silence that doesn’t feel empty. Those rhythms shape how I work and how I move through a wedding day.

My work has taken me across the country and across the ocean, and destination weddings in places like Portugal and Scotland are part of what’s next. Still, what matters most to me isn’t where your wedding takes place, but how it feels to be there.

As I wrap up my 2025 wedding season, I just want to say thank you.
To every couple who trusted me with their story this year, you made this season what it was. You are the reason I get to keep building a life and a career I once only imagined.

Looking ahead to 2026 brings new adventures, new countries, and even new continents. Still, my heart will always be with my Michigan couples. This place and the people here shaped me, and that will never change.

Thank you for an incredible season. I cannot wait to see what 2026 brings.
