Despite the clouds being in there tonight, got a really good screen grab from a video that I will be publishing soon of a giant jellyfish of red sprites looking down Highway 44 from my brother‘s front yard here in Washington, Missouri. We had a very narrow clearing in the skies and unfortunately, when I got this shot, we were close to completely cloudy but well worth it!

If you look close towards the bottom of the photo, you can see blue, which are likely trolls!

We had stormy skies last night around Washington, Missouri. My favorite one is the first one where we have a little bit of the sunset color left before we were overtaken by what felt like a monsoon out there.

Looking ahead, we could have some severe weather tomorrow that I will likely get out and chase giving it the weekend and I’m not working. Also in 56 days I leave for Arizona to take park in monsoon chasing. Should be a good time. I’m excited to be able to share what I capture while I’m out there from thunderstorms to the night sky.

Finally got through a couple thousand photos from this parent weekend at the Spirit Of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo in Chesterfield, Missouri.

We saw everything from a Japanese A6M3 zero to the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

These are a couple of my favorite shots from slowing down the shutter to see the propellers moving to the fast jets creating vapors. It’s always great to be able to see the A-10 in flight!

Day one is is finished for today airshow at Spirit Of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo. These are a few snaps I processed while waiting for traffic to die down. I will have much more to share in the coming days.

I may return tomorrow. Was nice seeing all my friends today. Here’s some planes we saw A-10 which is not getting retired now, snowbirds based out of Canada last year performing. Then we have F-22 raptor which is personally my favorite aircraft. Then we have the U.S. Navy Blue Angels

If you have been following my page the last 10+ years then you know I’m an aviation ju**ie who loves planes, both civil and military. This coming weekend we have then Spirit Of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo taking place in Chesterfield. Which will be featuring many aircraft both sitting on the ground for STEM and airborne.

Some of the photos below both from previous shows in St. Louis and Oshkosh last year. On Sunday, be on the lookout for me as I should be volunteering at the American Meteorological Society - St. Louis Chapter Booth! Come hang out and talk about Aviation and Weather with us!

Good morning!

My body decided to wake me up about 4:30 this morning which resulted in photographing ongoing storms west of the house. We had Anvil Crawlers galore even had a really impressive display of mammatus clouds before the line approached my location. About 530 or so we had a pretty gnarly shelf cloud push through. The storm brought heavy rain, wind, and some lightning strikes. As I was about to leave for work, I noticed we had some morning crawlers snapped a few before walking out the door.

Have fantastic Monday!

Well, this photo turned out better than I expected! The lighting really flowed well. This photo was taken last week in Nebraska on the backside of a supercell as it pushed through Lincoln.

Little neat story here I met an older gentleman who was part of Ham Radio who was Storm spotting and was explaining to me what I was looking at. I already knew, but I just let him talk as you could really tell he was enjoying himself.

Even when the day does not work out to what I was expecting, it is interesting to meet the faces of people passing through the same place you are or maybe a local resident and to hear those stories.

From left to right we have part of a double rainbow at sunset with crepuscular rays, lightning this is in the sun lit region. In the blue part with had some Mammatus clouds and every once in a while a flash of lightning.

Looking ahead, I will probably not be doing too much chasing between now and August unless it’s local. I could be a possibility attending an airshow at the beginning of June. And sometime in August, I might be meeting up with my friend and fellow photographer John who shoots monsoon season and told me I should come join him for some shenanigans. I will probably take him up on the offer.
