I went to see Oddisee when he came to Charlotte in 2017. I was almost a year into doing photography, and I was so worried about whether I could take my camera into the venue. I had recently become a big fan of his, and I had to snap him.

I remember going back to the car to put my camera away because I was afraid to try and take it inside. I saw another guy take his in, so I said, “Bump it,” and went and got mine back out of the car. I got through security with a breeze, and no one said a thing.

I was damn near front row and could see him clearly. I asked him if I could take photos with my camera. He looked back and was like, “Of course!” I didn’t get paid for this, but this was the first time I worked a room for an event.

This night gave me so much confidence as a photographer. He put on a helluva show! This was also the night I solidified to myself that I had a great eye for this. My editing wasn’t the best at the time, so I just edited these now in honor of celebrating hip-hop.

But this was the night that started it all for me. I even got to take a picture with him! It was a great night in so many ways.

Happy Birthday to HipHop! 🎤

When I’m not performing, you can usually find me with my camera in hand. I’ve been blessed to capture some of the dopest HipHop artists we have here in the city over the years. I’ve either caught them performing live or I’ve caught them in a portrait setting. There are some shots of the producers I’ve worked with personally in here too. I’ve built some great relationships and brotherhoods with a lot of them, and these are some of my favorite shots from along the way.

I love HipHop, and I’m grateful to be able to contribute to the culture in some way. It feels good to witness those in person who remain faithful to the original principles of HipHop. Emceeing, DJing, graffiti, breakdancing, and most importantly, having fun.

Salute to the culture and everybody who continues to keep it alive. 🎤📸📝

I’ve known Shane for almost five years now. We’ve done art and community work together, so I was more than thrilled when she asked me to photograph her wedding. I was truly honored.
Every time I saw her and Daniel together, I automatically assumed they were already married. That’s how well they go together.
I’m grateful I was able to capture such a special day for them. Love and appreciate y’all, and may your union be blessed immensely. 🖤🙏🏾
