My name is Dawn Henning and I am finally creating space to highlight the photography that I love to do. I got my first camera when I was about 7, which I still have, and I remember how much I loved taking pictures and how long the wait was to get them back from the drug store. Today, I still get that same excitement when taking pictures, thankfully, we don't have to wait a week to get them develop

I absolutely love taking pictures but it reaches a whole different level when I get to take pictures of my kids and grandkids. Throw in a celebration of graduations with a Masters and from Kindergarten and it takes on a whole new level of pride. 🎓📸

She’s beauty and she’s grace!!! Jaelyn was stunning in her dress with her Prince Charming by her side. It was the perfect dress, with the perfect date, for the perfect prom night.

We managed to find a tree that protected us from the only downpour that we’ve had in months, the 100+ other prom couples and the marriage proposal that was all happening at the same time that we were at the park…. But the water matched her dress so it was perfect. 📸🩷

Let me introduce you to Lacey because you are going to see her one day. She is so smart, sweet and beautiful. She came for prom pictures to celebrate her which we love. She’s graduating and going on to flight school to be a commercial pilot. Go Lacey!!

Happy 80th Birthday!!!!

What an amazing family that traveled from all over to come celebrate the patriarch of their family. You could literally feel the love, admiration, and tremendous respect they have for each other. I was moved so many times to tears just from the spirit that was there.

The last deserving nonprofit is Common Heart.

Common Heart is a non-profit organization in Indian Trail, NC, that fights hunger and poverty in Union County through food pantries, community engagement, and economic empowerment programs, aiming to create a sustainable community where everyone can thrive. It started in 2006 as a "small revolution of kindness" and has grown to serve thousands of families monthly by providing groceries, delivering hope, and developing life-changing friendships. The organization relies on volunteers and community partners to run its various food distribution and support programs, including mobile pantries and special events like the "Great Turkey Countdown".

The next amazing nonprofit was MiraVia.

MiraVia is a Charlotte, NC-based organization that supports pregnant women and mothers through a College Residence program and an Outreach Center, offering resources like housing, meals, childcare, life-skills classes, and material assistance (diapers, clothing, supplies) for both students and non-students. It provides long-term, Christ-centered support for women facing unexpected pregnancies, helping them achieve academic and personal goals in a stable environment.

I was honored to be asked to take pictures of the check giving ceremonies for nonprofit recipients of the holiday Giving Machines.

First up… Classroom Central.

Classroom Central is a Charlotte-based non-profit that provides free school supplies to teachers and students in high-need schools in the region, aiming to foster educational equity. It operates a "Free Store" where eligible teachers can "shop" for essential supplies like pencils, paper, backpacks, and STEM/literacy materials, and also runs programs like the Mobile Free Store and Teacher Launch Box to increase access. The organization relies on donations and volunteers to support its mission, serving teachers in six local school districts.
