The way they looked at each other this whole session.🤎

This session at The Hotel Concord in downtown Concord, NC was one of those evenings. The light, the locations the outfits, and these two - crazy and genuinely in love with each other.

And this is why I LOVE downtown sessions too - the brick walls, the historical architecture, city streets, I love it all and the vibe it brings to your engagement or couples photos. I love a garden or field as much as the next photographer, but downtown streets have a little piece of my heart too. Ultimately, it’s whatever you feel is “you” the most when it comes to choosing a location.

If you’re newly engaged in trying to figure out what your session should look and feel like, I have posted a brand new guide on the blog featuring outfit inspiration and tips 💕. Link in bio. .

Want to share a few of my favorite moments from this sweet wedding I photographed a couple weekends ago. I woke up at 6am this morning to do my usual morning routine of filling the bird feeders and watering the plants, and in these quiet moments had my weddings and my couples on my mind.

So much of the wedding industry has turned into a production focused mindset that sometimes it seems lost that these moments are people’s real lives. This isn’t the next chance to prove we can shoot like Vogue (unless that’s what the couple wants of course), it’s about capturing real moments that will be so deeply valued especially as time does what time does. I’m less interested in capturing every new trendy Pinterest pose for an hour (or more 🥴), and much more interested in creating photos that feel like you. Nothing forced, nothing inauthentic. Just a place that you love, the people you love, and whole lot of joy. That’s really all you need for good wedding photos anyway. 💕

Last photo backstory: The mother of the bride insisted to get a photo of me and the couple together. I thought this was so sweet! I try to remember this myself but often forget so I’m extra thankful that even on her daughter’s wedding day, this moment was thought about too. 🥰

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want this work to be.

Less about creating content.
More about noticing what’s already unfolding.

The way a hand rests without thinking.
The pauses.
The quiet excitement before everything changes.

This session felt like that - easy, familiar, real.
Nothing forced. Nothing rushed.
Just a season of life, exactly as it is.

My goshhh how February reminds me at how quickly the seasons pass. đź’•

The times I set a little something up, just for us, often means the most. It’s worth the extra effort to have these little moments to treasure forever.

If you’ve been waiting for “the right time” for photos of or with your kids - this is your sign that now is enough. 🤍

One of the biggest gifts you can give yourself on your wedding day is space - space to be present, to laugh, to feel everything as it happens.

When couples ask me about shot lists, I like to tell them this:

If something is deeply important to you - a specific family photo, a tradition, a detail you spent months planning, absolutely tell me. That matters.

But beyond those few intentional moments, the real work of a seasoned wedding photographer happens quietly, in the background.

While you’re hugging your friends, or laughing mid-conversation, or soaking in the fact that everyone you love is in one place - I’m watching. I’m paying attention. I’m noticing the way people show up for you when no one is performing.

Those moments can’t be scheduled or recreated. They only happen when you’re free to actually enjoy your wedding.

My job isn’t to manufacture memories.

It’s to protect them - by letting them unfold exactly as they are.

And years from now, it’s often those in-between moments, the ones you didn’t know were being captured, that end up meaning the most. 💕

This session was a little outside of my usual rhythm and I loved it. Rachel brought such a quiet confidence to this session - there’s something about a client fully showing up that makes everything fall into place. 💕
