The real test, though, happens between the ears. One bad bounce or gust of wind can unravel a round, yet the great players stay locked in, managing frustration, visualizing success, and trusting their process under pressure. That quiet resilience is what separates a good round from a memorable one.

Attention Parents, Students, Athletes & Schools — Stop.

Do not use AI to remove a photographer’s watermark.
Not ever.

That watermark is there for a reason.
It’s how we show our work, get credit, and protect our livelihood.

I don’t care if it’s in the corner or right in the middle of the photo — removing it is still copyright infringement.

Even if there is a written contract in place, the photographer still owns the copyright the moment the photo is taken. U.S. copyright law gives the creator automatic ownership rights — a contract is not required for those rights to exist. The photographer can still enforce them.

Using AI to remove a watermark or alter the image so you can post it on social media does not make it legal. Creating a modified or “cleaned-up” version is still an unauthorized derivative work, and posting it publicly is copyright infringement.

Legal consequences & real costs

Under U.S. copyright law, removing a watermark and using the image can lead to:

• Statutory damages of $750 – $30,000 per photo
• Up to $150,000 per photo if the infringement is found to be willful
• Plus the photographer’s attorney fees and court costs

Many photographers and their attorneys routinely pursue claims starting at $2,500–$5,000 per image. Settlements for a single photo commonly land between $5,000 and $25,000 — and can climb higher when the watermark was removed (triggering separate DMCA penalties of $2,500–$25,000 per violation) or when the use was commercial/willful.

Is it really worth risking that amount just to post a “clean” version of a photo you didn’t create or pay for?

For the photographer, fighting it is worth it.
For you? Almost never.

Respect the work. Credit the photographer. License the image if you need it without a watermark.

Had the privilege of shooting Power Hour Comp for TrueFIT Athletics.

The group of athletes that show up year after year and put in the work never let me down.

This year was another brutal 12 workouts completed over a 60 min running clock. Literally blood, sweat and tears were shed on the floor.

TrueFIT Athletics is by far best gym in Lancaster and hosting competitions.
