Mark True Photo

Mark True Photo I’m a fine art photographer using a digital camera to capture commmon things in common places, but in unexpected ways.

My work invites viewers to linger awhile, taking time to tap into their memory
or imagination, to find an answer, or complete the story Rural landscapes, small towns, and the people who live there are the heart of my photography. Trained as a journalist and writer, I use the camera to tell stories that begin with an implied “Once upon a time…”

Whether capturing a wide stretch of farmland, a wea

thered face, or an intimate architectural detail, my goal is to reveal both the familiar and the unexpected. Working in color and black and white, I favor simple, graphic compositions that isolate subjects or draw viewers inward. Each image reflects a place’s past, present, and future while inviting reflection on the enduring character of that space.

The best part of my art photography is talking to people at art shows. That’s somewhat limited, so I’m considering creating a Patreon page to generate a small but consistent revenue stream to support my photography while allowing me to share more about the work.

I envision posting about ongoing work with the story behind the image, on a weekly basis, for $5 per month. $10 per month would get those posts plus a high resolution file that you could download and print. At the $15 per month level, you would also receive an 8”x10” (or equivalent) mailed to you twice per year.

What do you think? Please respond in the comments if you think you’d participate, and at what level. Let me know if you’re not interested, too. There is no obligation to participate, but I would appreciate your input.

Thanks for your interesty

Janet contemplated buying “Something by the See”, an image that is admittedly not for everybody. She ended up buying it to help her understand the creative process her husband, also a photographer, goes through when making images.

Have I told you lately how much I love talking to people about art?!!!

I’m not usually a concept guy, but I came across a photo two days ago walking around my hometown. It didn’t turn out like I wanted so I tried yesterday, and didn’t quite get it right. So I’m back for a third day. Can you guess what I’m trying to capture today?

The Caldwell barn in the Cataloochee Valley of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the few signs of the people displaced by the National park in the early 20th Century.
