What started as a few Canyon Lake Sandlot kids getting together for photos last year has officially become a whole THING. 🥹⚾️

A few cool dads started this little tradition last year with just a handful of kiddos, and somehow, we’ve grown to 30+ kids this year. We really said, “Let’s make some memories,” and accidentally started a tradition that already feels like one of those childhood stories everyone will remember. 😂

Shana and I have been planning this shoot for months, and this year we brought Beth along to help us capture even more of these moments for these kids to hold onto forever.

There is something so nostalgic about photographing these kids together. The dusty knees, sun-warmed faces, crooked caps, big smiles, goofy personalities, and the way they run around together like they have nowhere else to be. The dirt, the laughter, the friendships, the baseball, and all the little in-between moments feel like a snapshot of childhood itself.

These are the days they may not fully appreciate yet the days spent at the ballpark, playing Sandlot with their friends, chasing each other through the dirt, laughing until their stomachs hurt, and going home tired, happy, and covered in dust. But one day, they’ll look back at these photos and remember what it felt like to be little. To belong to a team. To have a whole crew of friends. To spend summer evenings playing the game they loved.

And their parents will remember everything: the tiny uniforms, the growing faces, the missing teeth, the scraped-up knees, the way they used to laugh, and how quickly these years passed.

One day these kids will be grown, and these photos will take them right back to this place to Canyon Lake, to the Sandlot, to the dirt and the sunshine!

So here’s to the tradition or a trend we accidentally started lol, the memories we get to freeze, and the 30+ Sandlot kids who made this year even more special. 🤎⚾️

And honestly, I think this is the kind of tradition that deserves to keep going for years to come. 😉

And thank you to the OG sandlot kids who let us crash their game that day! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
